Orbital sander grip

A flexible sanding/deburring head adapted for driven rotation by a power tool is formed from a plurality of juxtaposed thin sheets of flexible abrasive material individually die cut to define a connecting portion having a mounting opening disposed centrally thereof and at least three projections connected to the connecting portion to extend generally radially of the mounting opening, wherein the projections are uniformly spaced annularly of the mounting opening and bound uniformly sized cut-out areas opening radially of the mounting opening and each projection is divided into parallel fingers having relatively inner ends connected to the connecting portion and relatively outer ends arranged to lie generally along arcs of a circle whose center is coincident with the center of the mounting opening. The projections are skip-cut to define the fingers.

A belt grinder having a casing, a drive pulley supported in the casing, a contact pulley mounted on an arm extending from a forward opening in the casing, and endless belt trained about the pulleys, a pneumatic motor housing projecting into the casing, passages in the housing communicating with an annular chamber in the casing, and a fitting secured to the housing having an exhaust passage in communication with the interior thereof, a nozzle member located in the exhaust passage and a slotted passageway communicating with the annular chamber and with the outer periphery of the nozzle member.

Miniature belt grinder

A pair of guide wheels are provided for a manually manipulated abrading device of the endless abrasive belt variety for preventing the gouging of the surface of a workpiece when a raised imperfection, such as a weld bead, is abraded by operation of the belt to lie flush with such surface. The guide wheels define an annular and radially outwardly opening groove in which a tire formed of a relatively non-deformable material is supported to undergo relative radially directed displacements incident to rolling of the tire along the surface of the workpiece. The guide wheels are adjustable to vary the width of the groove for purposes of controlling the extent of radially directed displacements of the tire, and thus the position of the belt relative to the surface of the workpiece.

A pair of guide wheels (6) for a hand held abrading device (1) of the endless abrasive belt (2) variety for preventing slewing, side slipping and gouging of the surface of a workpiece (8) when a raised imperfection (9) such as a weld bead is abraded to be flush with the surface (10). The guide wheels (6), mounted on the axle (5) of the contact wheel (3) of the device, are circumferentially adjustable to compensate for different radial dimensions of the sum of the thickness of the abrasive belt and the radius of the guide wheel and include a resilient tire guide ring (11) and a circumferentially round guide surface (12) having different radii at different lateral positions.
