The invention relates to a method and arrangement for securing a man-machine dialogue between a user and at least one application, which may be executed on a terminal, whereby a communication between user and application is achieved by means of input channels and output channels on the terminal. According to the invention, the user can be given the security that he is communicating with only one particular application, whereby the input channels and/or the output channels of the terminal, together or separately, may be optionally switched by means of a switching device such that only the particular application is available.

The invention relates to a method for billing internet transactions via mobile radio telephone service. By using WAP (Wireless Application Protocol), it is possible to select and, optionally, reserve goods and services (information, tickets, CD's, hotel rooms, etc) sold via the internet. When the customer decides to purchase the good or service, he or she conducts a payment transaction from the mobile radio telephone device. According to the invention, the customer data required for conducting a payment transaction is centrally maintained in a database of a payment gateway.

The invention relates to methods and systems for selectively controlling network selection in an area covered by at least two mobile communication networks. A cordless communication system includes a mobile terminal of a public mobile communication system and a base station. The base station is connectable to a public fixed network and compatible at an air interface with the mobile communication system which has at least one authentication function. A read and write unit of the base station reads and writes from and to, respectively, at least one identification module. Sections of data of the identification module used in the base station are identical to sections of data stored on a chip card of an access-authorized mobile terminal. The read data from the identification module is processed through software implemented in the base station. The mobile terminal is authenticated with regard to the base station through the processed data, wherein the base station fulfills the same functions and tasks as a home location register and, respectively, an authentication center of the mobile communication system. The mobile terminal is operated through the public fixed network if the authentication has been successful.

A method for mutual authentication of components in a network using a challenge-response method, including the steps of requesting at least one data pair including a first random number and a first response from an authentication center, passing the first random number to a terminal which uses an internally stored key and the first random number to calculate the first response, sending the calculated first response to the network, sending a second random number from the terminal to the network, and responding to the second random number with a second response calculated in the authentication center. The first response sent from the terminal to the network is also used as the second random number, and the network has previously requested the second response from the authorization center together with the first random number and the first response as a triplet data set.

A method and device is able to authenticate a subscriber of a digital mobile radiotelephone system vis-&agrave;-vis an authentication entity, wherein the subscriber firstly initializes vis-&agrave;-vis the authentication entity by executing several times the authentication algorithm containing stored subscriber-specific components and by storing the corresponding response parameters of the subscriber-specific components in a non-volatile memory. Systematic authentication of the subscriber of the mobile radiotelephone system vis-&agrave;-vis the authentication entity via a common interface is made possible by the authentication parameters stored in the memory since the authentication entity can always refer back to the response parameters of the individual subscriber module it already knows.
