One leg of a connector connector is embedded inside a slot cut in a base panel structure. Adjacent laterally extensive legs overlap and are bonded to the face sheet of the base panel structure. Structural members can be attached to the remaining leg(s) of the connector. The legs bonded to the base panel structure enable loads to be transferred to or from the panel structure, and enable peel-off loads to be distributed through the base panel structure.

A supersonic aircraft comprises a wing having upper and lower surfaces and extending from a leading edge to a trailing edge and at least two engine nacelles coupled to the lower surface of the wing on the trailing edge. The supersonic aircraft further comprises an inverted V-tail abutting to the upper side of the wing comprising a central vertical stabilizer, at least two inverted stabilizers coupled to sides of the central vertical stabilizer and coupled to the wing and supporting at least two engine nacelles, and at least two ruddervators respectively pivotally coupled to at least two inverted stabilizers. The supersonic aircraft also comprises a controller coupled to at least two ruddervators and capable of adjusting the aircraft longitudinal lift distribution throughout a flight envelope to maintain a reduced sonic boom and reduced drag trim condition.

Improved joints for cryogenic liquid-containing tanks are disclosed. The joints include a support plate, a lower arm mounted on the support plate, an upper arm mounted on the support plate spaced from the lower arm, and tank skins extending into the space between the lower and upper arms. Sealing layers are provided between the tank skins and the joint arms. The joints are particularly useful for space launch vehicle cryogenic liquid propellant tanks which must be lightweight, withstand high structural loads and maintain leak-free conditions.

Improved joints for cryogenic liquid-containing tanks are disclosed. The joints include a support plate, a lower arm mounted on the support plate, an upper arm mounted on the support plate spaced from the lower arm, and tank skins extending into the space between the lower and upper arms. Sealing layers are provided between the tank skins and the joint arms. The joints are particularly useful for space launch vehicle cryogenic liquid propellant tanks, which must be lightweight, withstand high structural loads and maintain leak-free conditions.

In detail, the product is made by a process comprising the steps of: providing a first hollow tubular member made of a composite material; providing a support member adapted to fit within the first tubular member; installing the support member within the first tubular member and joining thereto; providing a second hollow tubular member made of composite material; installing the second tubular member within the end of the first tubular member such that it abuts the support member; providing an inflatable bladder having an inflation tube attached thereto; installing the inflatable bladder within the first tubular member such that it abuts the support member and the inflation tube extends out the end; pressurizing the bladder causing it to expand and apply pressure to the first and second tubular members; heating a portion of both the first and second tubular members to forming temperatures; and forming a portion of first and second tubular members into a solid flat rectangular cross-sectional shaped attachment end fitting.
