Tool (10) includes a pair of elongate members (14,26,36) pivotably movable by handles (14) being urged together and apart, for the tool work end (12) to perform coupling and uncoupling operations on a connector assembly (200) placed in either channel (32) or (24) respectively. Each connector (100) is of the type having a rearward section (102) secured on an end of an electrical cable (150), and a forward section (104) including both a blade contact end section (110) and a blade-receiving recess (126) thereby being hermaphroditic and able to be coupled to another like connector (100); the connectors are rotatable about cooperating coupling sections (130) into and out of axial alignment. The tool work end (12) includes a fulcrum embossment (18) along its pivot axis, and a pair of first bosses spaced rearwardly therefrom to define a first or uncoupling channel (24), and a pair of second bosses (30) on prong ends (34) forwardly of fulcrum embossment (18 ) to define a second or coupling channel (32), with the fulcrum embossment (18) engaging either side edges (120) or side edges (118) of both forward connector sections (104) and the first and second bosses (22,30) engaging respective rearward connector sections (102) to apply opposing forces on selected locations to rotate the connectors.

Tool for coupling and uncoupling an electrical connector

A connecting device for securing a cable such as an electrical cable. More particularly, the connecting device includes a first cylindrical member having a laterally open groove rotatably positioned in an eccentrical bore of a second member. A passage, defined by the groove and bore, is decreased in diameter upon the relative rotation of the first and second members to compress and securely retain a cable positioned therein.

More particularly, the device (10) includes a body member (12), wedge (14) and bolt (16). An axial passage (22) through the body member for receiving the end of the cable is intersected by a transverse passage (42) in which the wedge (14) is slidably positioned. The wedge (14) is drawn into tight engagement with the cable by the bolt (16) entering the transverse passage (42) on an opposite side of the axial passage (22).

More particularly, a slug of conductive material is impact-extruded into a form having a wire barrel at one end and at the other end, outwardly extending tang and flat blade. Simple machine operations including cutting, punching, coining, and inserting complete the form into an electrical connector.

A splice device for in-line splicing of two cables, wires or the like. More particularly, the device includes a body member having axial extending apertures in each end face and transversely extending passages intersecting the apertures. Wedge members, having threaded ends, are positioned in the transverse passages with the threaded ends extending out of the body member of receiving nuts so that the wedge members can be drawn tightly in the passages and thereby securely wedging cables positioned in the apertures.

An optical fiber splice case for joining composite cables having optical fibers in a tube surrounded by wire strands. More particularly the splice case includes a body having a chamber for receiving spliced together optical fibers and separate cable gripping assemblies which grip the wire strands and which are secured to the body. The cable gripping assemblies include elongated jaws which collectively form a cylindrical member which is compressed down around the wire strands to withstand high tensile forces.

An explosively operated electrical connector for mechanically gripping and electrically interconnecting a pair of electrical cables. More particularly, the connector includes a C-member with converging, inwardly facing channels, a complementary wedge member and an explosively driven ram positioned in a housing on the C-member for driving the wedge member into wedging engagement with cables positioned in the channels.

An electrical connector for electrically connecting two conductors. More particularly the connector includes a C-shaped body member having parallel, inwardly facing channels along each side for receiving conductors therein and a pair of toggle blocks pivotally hinged together and each having outwardly facing channels along one side. The toggle blocks, having a combined width greater than the space between conductors positioned in the inwardly facing channels, compress the conductors therein when drawn into the body member.

The present invention relates to a device for splicing two insulated electrical wires or cables. More particularly, the device includes two or more elongated members cooperating to form a cylindrical, cable receiving body with tapered outer surfaces adapted to slidingly receive collars which compress the elongated members against the cables. Insulation piercing prongs are driven into the cable to contact the underlying conductors to establish electrical continuity between the two cables.

More particularly, the terminal includes a first member with an elongated body having an axial, wire-receiving first passage, a second, transverse passage intersecting the first passage and a second member having a wire engaging surface, the second member being driven into the second passage so that the wire engaging surface thereon may compress and retain a wire in the first passage.

The present invention relates to a device for connecting the ends of cable, wire or other cylindrical objects together. More particularly, the invention includes an elongated jaw assembly with openings at each end adapted to receive the objects to be joined. The outer surface of the jaw assembly is tapered towards the ends to slidingly receive collars which, when driven onto the jaw assembly, axially compress the jaw assembly down around the inserted objects.
