A method and system for packetized advertising carried out with machine readable and decodable information indicia, where the packetized advertisements are formed by associating any combination of a plurality of products and services with the information indicia. In response to a device capturing an image of the information indicia a universal resource locator (URL) is generated. The URL generates a webpage with a series of URL that correspond to the plurality of products and services that are associated with the captured information indicia.

A system for controlling gemstones employs RFID chips adhered to each stone. A display or storage area includes a radiator for generating activating emission for the RFID chips and an antenna for picking up the resultant RF signals including serial number. Both the radiator and antenna are connected to a computer supporting a database with an inventory of the chips and anti-collision circuitry for identifying the chips.

An improved tympanic thermometer incorporates twin thermopiles, each including a set of sensing junctions and a set of reference junctions configured so that three of the four sets of junctions sense only the temperature of an ambient environment, while the fourth set of junctions receives energy from both the ambient environment and from the tympanic membrane of a patient whose temperature is being taken. The energy received from the tympanic membrane is intentionally not bandwidth limited, enabling an accurate temperature measurement to be calculated which is substantially independent of wavelength. A light pipe is optionally included to assist in carrying radiation from the tympanic membrane to the fourth set of thermocouple junctions used for temperature sensing. In the preferred embodiment a dielectric coating is internally applied within the light pipe, and interchangeable tubes may be provided which conform to the aural physiology of different patients, including children.

A calculator apparatus 10 includes the standard calculator mode and several other modes functions namely; a pressure-temperature conversion, a temperature-to-pressure conversion based on refrigerant, a relative humidity reading based on input of the dry bulb and wet bulb temperature; and a flow-energy rate conversion mode based upon a selected fuel meter dial and Metric or English units. In addition, a Fahrenheit-to-centigrade conversion and a centigrade-to-Fahrenheit conversion functions are incorporated. The calculator includes a keyboard 18, a microprocessor 16, a timer 26, a power source 12, a switch 14 and a display screen 22.

Portable calculator for refrigeration heating and air conditioning

A system for generating an aesthetically pleasing abstract display on the screen of a color television receiver in timed relation to an audio signal derived from music or the like employs a filter network to divide the audio signal into a plurality of separate frequency bands. These signals are provided to the inputs of three modulators along with video pattern signals developed by a digital/analog mapping network connected to the outputs of various stages of an oscillator driven counter chain. The same counter chain produces the horizontal and vertical synchronization signals for the receiver so that the display is generated in timed relation to the raster scan of the television receiver. The three modulators receive certain of the audio signals and certain of the analog signals and their outputs are provided to the three chrominance inputs of the receiver either directly or via an RF transmitter which allows connection to the antenna of the TV set.

Color video display for audio signals

A photo-electric light curtain for braking and terminating power to the ram of a press when an obstruction is detected in the curtain area uses an elongated fluorescent lamp as the light source. A number of spaced lens systems arrayed on the opposite side of the curtain area from the lamp focus on spaced points along the lamp. Fiber-optic strands connect the focal point of each of the lens systems with points arrayed about the stationary element of a circular commutator which are scanned by another fiber-optic element having one end affixed to a rotary commutator element and the other end feeding a photodetector. The output signals from the photodetector are processed to detect obstructions along the focal axis of any of the lens systems by fail-safe digital circuitry which provides an output when this blockage is detected for several cycles of the commutator. Counter circuitry, preset by manual switches, allows the system to ignore light blockages caused by permanent installations.
