An image processing system identifies desired views of a particular subject and triggers a mobile camera device in proximity to the subject to capture a digital image, thus collecting new image data to augment an existing database. In an exemplary method, location data for a camera-equipped mobile communication device in visual proximity to a subject of interest is received at an image collection server. Upon determining whether the location data corresponds to a desired view of the subject of interest, the image collection server sends an image capture request to the mobile device, triggering the user of the device to capture an image of the subject. Finally, digital image data is received from the mobile communication device in response to the image capture request. The digital image data may then be used for assembling a composite representation of the subject of interest, such as a 3D model of the subject.

Methods and apparatus for collecting image data

Methods and apparatus for distributing multimedia files units are disclosed. In an exemplary method, a plurality of multimedia files are downloaded using a transportation provider wireless device associated with a fare-based transport vehicle, such as a taxi, bus, ferry, or airplane. The downloaded multimedia files are stored in a data storage unit operatively connected to the transportation provider wireless device. In response to passenger input data received from a passenger wireless device, a desired multimedia file selected by the passenger is transferred to the passenger wireless device or played back using local speakers and/or video displays. In some embodiments, a selected multimedia file is associated with digital rights management information regulating authorized uses of the file.

Distribution of multimedia files using a transportation provider wireless device

The present invention provides a reward-based process where sharing mobile devices receive a reward for sharing access to media content with one or more requesting mobile devices. A requesting mobile device asks the wireless communication system for access to media content via a sharing mobile device. A content provider identifies a sharing mobile device with the desired media content to the requesting mobile device. Subsequently, the requesting mobile device requests and receives access to the desired media content via the sharing mobile device. An accounting unit associated with the content provider accrues a reward for a user of the sharing mobile device that rewards the user for providing the requesting mobile device with access to the media content.

Reward-based access to media content

A camera assembly for generating high resolution photograph includes a sensor assembly that has two regions of different effective resolution. Image data from multiple images that are captured with the sensor assembly are combined to generate output image data in the form of a high resolution picture. A first region of the sensor is used to capture image data for the images that are combined. A second region, that is of higher effective resolution than the first region, is used to capture image data for use in aligning the image data from the plural images prior to combination.

System and method for generating a photograph

Disclosed is a means for adjusting color gamut data associated with a digital media file to compensate for changing ambient light conditions at a display screen. Ambient light conditions at the display screen are detected using a light sensor and converted into ambient light data. Alternate color gamut data is then selected according to the current ambient light data from a color gamut look-up table that contains optimized color gamut data for a variety of ambient light data associated with the digital media file. Display correction parameters are then determined based on the alternate color gamut data. The display correction parameters are applied to present a more optimal rendition of the digital media file. The light sensor periodically re-detects the ambient light conditions so that any changes can be re-processed to update a rendition of the digital media file as it is displayed.

Apparatus and method of automatically adjusting a display experiencing varying lighting conditions

Image data for a digital photograph is segmented into a first portion and a second portion. The image data of the second portion is processed to have a quality lower than the image data of the first portion. An image file for the scene is stored where the image file contains image data corresponding to the first and second portions so that the image file has a high quality portion and a low quality portion.

System and method for generating a photograph with variable image quality

The socket system comprises a set of vertically-stackable sockets. A first socket mounts on a printed circuit board to receive a first chip module, and a second socket stacks on the first socket to receive a second chip module. The first socket includes a first set of embedded contacts to electrically connect the first chip module to the printed circuit board, and a second set of embedded contacts to electrically connect the second socket to the printed circuit board. The second socket includes a third set of embedded contacts to electrically connect the second chip module to the printed circuit board. System upgrades are enabled by replacing the chip modules.

A voice activated method of establishing a Push-to-Talk (PTT) connection from a mobile phone is disclosed. The mobile phone user presses and holds a PTT key on the mobile phone. The user then speaks the name of a contact. The mobile phone recognizes the name of a contact that has been spoken and associates the recognized name with an entry in the mobile phone's memory. The mobile phone then displays the name of the contact on its display. The user can then speak additional contact names or can release the PTT key. Upon release of the PTT key, the mobile phone initiates a PTT connection from the mobile phone to the contact(s) displayed. The mobile phone uses PTT contact data in the mobile phone's memory associated with the contact name to make the PTT connection. The name of a contact may also comprise a group name that is associated with multiple contacts.

A handheld, personal electronic device includes a handheld device housing. An electronic component is disposed in the handheld device housing. A fiber optic cable is routed through the handheld device housing and is operably connected to the electronic component to permit transmission of optical signals to and/or from the electronic component via the fiber optic cable. A portable electronic device includes a portable housing and an electrical circuit positioned in the housing. A connector assembly is positioned in a wall of the housing. The connector assembly includes an internal connector extending into the housing, and an auxiliary connector rigidly coupled to the internal connector and accessible from outside the housing. The auxiliary connector is electrically connected to the internal connector. A flexible member electrically connects the internal connector to the electrical circuit. The flexible member is configured to transmit less than about 10% of an external impact force on the connector assembly to the electrical circuit.

Shielded electronics package structure with enhanced mechanical reliability

A microelectric module including a circuit substrate having one or more covers or electromagnetic shields disposed thereon. To secure the covers or electromagnetic shields to the circuit substrate, and provide an electrical contact with an underlying ground pattern, a thin plastic film is extended over the covers or electromagnetic shields and the circuit substrate. This film is subjected to heat, causing it to shrink and effectively provide a controlled force that acts to hold and lock the covers or electromagnetic shields to the circuit substrate. Thus the heat-shrunk film mechanically secures the covers or electromagnetic shields to the circuit substrate and at the same time seals the microelectric module formed.

A shielding and thermal dissipation structure for an electronic assembly including a distribution circuit and at least one electronic component mounted on a surface of the distribution circuit. A plastic housing overlays the at least one electronic component, and includes an outer periphery defining a housing interior and substantially surrounding the outer periphery of the at least one electronic component. A closed end on one side of the housing outer periphery has an interior surface facing the at least one electronic component with a metal coating about 5 microns thick on the interior surface. The metal coating is chosen from the group of nickel and gold. An electrically conductive gel in the housing interior about the plastic housing outer periphery (and preferably including carbon particles or carbon fibers) is in intimate contact with the distribution circuit and the metal coating. And a thermally conductive gel is disposed between the at least one electronic component and the housing closed end interior surface, and preferable includes particles of at least one of the group of aluminum oxide, aluminum nitride, and boron nitride.

Gel structure for combined EMI shielding and thermal control of microelectronic assemblies

A thin flexible antenna has radiating elements made of thin nickel-titanium, a highly flexible and rigid alloy. The radiating elements are covered with silicone elastomer dielectric layers that have suitable elongation properties to withstand extreme bending stresses outer jackets cover the antenna. In to prevent contamination, a protective layer of silicon elastomer covers the conductive layer and the Ni--Ti radiating element such that a portion of the conductive element is exposed to provide a RF feed point.
