A method for use in a first layer-3 switch, the method comprising: learning, by the first layer-3 switch, a first layer-3/layer-2 (L3/L2) cache, the learning of the first L3/L2 cache including generating a first cache entry that maps a layer-3 address of a first device to a layer-2 address of the first device, the first device being part of a first LAN portion; and transmitting, over a wireless network, contents of the first L3/L2 cache to a second layer-3 switch, the transmitted contents including at least a portion of the first cache entry, the second layer-3 switch being part a second LAN portion, the second LAN portion being connected to the first LAN portion via the wireless network.

A fault recoverable computer system including an instruction table having a plurality of processor instructions. The system also includes at least one sensor arranged to monitor an environmental condition and output sensor data. A monitor module is arranged to receive sensor data and/or processor state information. A testing module is arranged to perform a plurality of self-tests including a first self-test of the computer system and, if the first self-test fails, output a failure notification. A recovery module is arranged to update the instruction table in response to receiving the failure notification. The update includes replacing a first processor instruction arranged to perform a first function with a replacement set of processor instructions configured to alternatively perform the first function.

Covert acoustic communications (CAC) through solid propagation channels that connect node pairs is achieved by encoding signals using spread spectrum coding techniques that position the encoded signal at a center frequency fwithin a narrow frequency bandwidth BWin which the amplitude of the channel response H(f) between each node pair is relatively high. The channel response H(f), bandwidth BWand center frequency f, and accordingly the signal data rate will adapt for each node pair and possibly each side of the node pair. A pre-distortion filter 1/H(f) pre-distorts the encoded signal over bandwidth BWto compensate for material and modal dispersion and multipath between the node pair. This technique avoids the problems associated with frequency dependent attenuation of the continuous solid path and allows for simultaneous transmission and reception of signals among the multiple node pairs.

In one aspect, the invention is the system for assessing a navigation augmentation environment. The system includes a reference station for receiving messages from a satellite. The reference station has a known position. The system also includes a simulator for simulating an augmentation system by determining corrections based on the messages received and the known position of the reference station. The system further includes a monitoring system to render the corrections to a user in a form enabling determination of the usability of the augmentation system in the navigation augmentation environment.
