Accessory for a power tool

A power tool is advantageously configured to provide a rotating motion, an oscillating motion, and a reciprocating motion. The power tool includes at least one motor, which is operable to drive these three different motions at the same time. The power tool includes a rotating member, which is configured to output a rotating motion. The rotating member is configured to attach to and detach from a rotating accessory. The power tool includes an oscillating member, which is configured to output an oscillating motion. The oscillating member is configured to attach to and detach from an oscillating accessory. The power tool includes a pin, which is configured to output a reciprocating motion. The pin is configured to provide the reciprocating motion to a reciprocating accessory. The power tool is configured to provide a connected accessory with the corresponding motion during operation.

Multi-motion appliance

An accessory for a power tool includes a mounting interface for detachably mounting the accessory to a clamping device of the power tool. The mounting interface is configured to permit the accessory to be used with a wide variety of clamping devices, regardless of manufacturer. The accessory includes a mounting portion having a spindle slot configured to accommodate a drive spindle of the tool and pin openings that are arranged around the spindle slot. The pin openings are configured to receive pins which are arranged around a spindle of an oscillating power tool. The spindle slot includes first linear portion, a second linear portion and a curved portion that is disposed between, and connects, the first linear portion to the second linear portion. The spindle slot is configured to contact the spindle of an oscillating power tool at a first location of the spindle slot.

Tool accessory mounting interface

An accessory for a power tool includes a mounting interface for detachably mounting the accessory to a clamping device of the power tool. The mounting interface is configured to permit the accessory to be used with a wide variety of clamping devices, regardless of manufacturer. The accessory includes a mounting portion having a spindle slot configured to accommodate a drive spindle of the tool and pin openings that are arranged around the spindle slot. The pin openings are configured to receive pins which are arranged around a spindle of an oscillating power tool. When viewed in a cross section that is perpendicular to the first clamping face, at least a portion of opposed surfaces of at least one pin opening are non-parallel.

Power tool

An accessory includes a blade, a coupling, and a guide. The blade includes a cutting edge. The coupling includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion is attachable to and detachable from the power tool. The second portion is connected to the blade. The guide is structured to guide the blade along a work piece by interacting with a surface of the work piece as the blade moves in an advancing direction. The guide is structured to provide a locked state and an unlocked state. In the locked state, the guide is engaged with the coupling such that the guide is attached to the coupling. In the unlocked state, the guide is disengaged from the coupling such that the guide is detached from the coupling.

Blade accessory with guide

A blade for oscillating tools includes lateral edges, a working edge that extends in a first direction, and a mounting portion. The mounting portion includes a first mounting configuration that defines a first center and a second mounting configuration that defines a second center, where the first center is spaced a distance away from the second center in a direction that is substantially orthogonal to the first direction in which the working edge extends or to a tangent of a center of curvature of the working edge. Both mounting configurations are configured to drive the same working edge.

Dual interface for oscillating blades

A clamping apparatus with a control mechanism includes a cam, a cam post, a handle, and a handle plate. The cam is configured to rotate into a clamped position in which the clamping apparatus is in a clamped state and an unclamped position in which the clamping apparatus is in an unclamped state. The cam post is rotatable with the cam. The handle is movable into a first position and a second position. The handle plate is rotatable with the handle. The handle plate is configured to rotate the cam post in a first direction when the handle moves from the first position to the second position. The handle plate is configured to rotate in a second direction without rotating the cam post in the second direction for a predetermined distance when the handle moves from the second position to the first position. The first direction is opposite to the second direction.

Clamping apparatus with control mechanism for spring-actuated lever

A guide member for an oscillating power tool includes an attachment portion configured to be removably attached to a housing of the power tool and a guide portion that extends from the attachment portion. The guide portion includes a leading edge, a trailing edge, and a guide surface. When the attachment portion is attached to the housing of the power tool, the guide portion is configured to extend beyond the housing in a first direction to position the leading edge portion a predetermined distance apart from the oscillation axis, the predetermined distance being greater than a distance that an accessory tool attached to the power tool extends.

Guide foot for an oscillating power tool

A power tool includes a housing, a motor having a motor output shaft and located within the housing, the motor being configured to rotate the motor output shaft about a first axis, a drive component having (i) a body attached to the motor output shaft, and (ii) an output drive pin attached to the body, the output drive pin defining a second axis which is offset from the first axis, the body being caused to rotate about the first axis in response to rotation of the motor output shaft about the first axis, and the output drive pin being caused to be eccentrically driven in response to rotation of the body about the first axis, and further the body having a hub and a counterbalance arrangement attached to the hub, the counterbalance arrangement being positioned and configured to offset forces generated by the output drive pin when eccentrically driven, a linkage configured to oscillate in response to the output drive pin being eccentrically driven, and a tool mount configured to oscillate in response to oscillation of the linkage. A method of oscillating a tool is also described.

An accessory attachment system for a power tool having an elongated housing with a nose portion, an output shaft to which a cutting blade that oscillates through a small angle is attached, the attachment comprising, an accessory interface removably mounted to the nose portion of the housing and a depth guide attachment rotatably mounted to the accessory interface, the depth guide attachment further comprising a relatively thin body portion having a generally circular first opening with a center axis generally parallel to the output shaft, the body portion fitting on the accessory interface and being rotatable thereon and having a second circular opening transverse to the first opening center axis, a depth guide member adjustably mounted on the body portion and having an offset outer end portion, and a locking member configured to secure the depth guide member in a desired position.

Accessory attachment system for an oscillating power tool

A rotary tool includes a housing, a tool holder, and a wrench assembly. The housing includes an end portion having external threads. The tool holder extends from the end portion and includes a fastening member configured for movement between an unclamped position and a clamped position in which the tool holder can engage a tool. The wrench assembly includes a body portion and a wrench member. The body portion includes (i) a plurality of internal threads configured to meshingly engage the external threads and (ii) an opening through which a portion of the tool holder extends when the internal threads are meshingly engaged to the external threads. The wrench member includes a wrench surface configured to engage the fastening member.

Wrench for rotary tool

A clamping device for clamping an accessory to a power tool includes a first flange, a spindle member, and a cam member. The first flange is coupled to a drive system of the power tool and is configured to receive the accessory. The spindle member defines a longitudinal axis and includes a second flange provided on an end of the spindle member and a follower member provided on an opposite end of the spindle member. The cam member includes a cam surface configured to interact with the follower surface, the cam member is rotatable about the longitudinal axis to a clamped position and to an unclamped position. In the unclamped position the accessory is removable from the first flange, and in the clamped position the accessory is clamped between the first flange and the second flange.

Accessory clamp for a power tool

A power tool includes a housing, a motor having a motor output shaft and located within the housing, the motor being configured to rotate the motor output shaft about a first axis, a drive component having (i) a body attached to the motor output shaft, and (ii) an output drive pin attached to the body, the output drive pin defining a second axis which is offset from the first axis, the body being caused to rotate about the first axis in response to rotation of the motor output shaft about the first axis, and the output drive pin being caused to be eccentrically driven in response to rotation of the body about the first axis, and further the body having a hub and a counterbalance arrangement attached to the hub, the counterbalance arrangement being positioned and configured to offset forces generated by the output drive pin when eccentrically driven, a linkage configured to oscillate in response to the output drive pin being eccentrically driven, and a tool mount configured to oscillate in response to oscillation of the linkage.
