In a carding machine having cylinders, which are provided with a clothing of a saw-tooth wire helically wound thereon, carding elements are provided having saw-tooth wire sections, which are arranged at an acute angle to a plane that is transverse to the axis of rotation of the cylinders.

Carding element for a carding machine

The dirt separator for carding machines is located upstream of the doffer cylinder and comprises a knife blade (16) as well as a foot portion or base plate that is provided with a toothed wire clothing (19), which is arranged with a clearance of about 0.25 mm from the main drum of the carding machine. The knife blade (16) is preceeded by a gap (27), which is in fluid flow communication with a suction duct (24).

Dirt separator with a web-carding plate

A dirt separator which is arranged between adjacent carding plates of a carding device and which comprises a knife blade and a collecting rail. Each of these elements is radially adjustable with respect to the main cylinder of the carding device. The knife blade, the collecting rail and a cover form a vacuum chamber that is adapted to be connected to a vacuum source. A longitudinal gap or clearance between the knife blade and the collecting rail serves to extract the dirt or trash from the treated material.

Dirt separator

A carding plate comprising a base plate having a concave and cylindrically shaped supporting surface adapted to receive a thin metal plate, onto which a plurality of parallely arranged saw-tooth wire segments are fixed. The so formed sub-assembly is clampingly held on the supporting surface by clamping strips, which are designed to be screwed to the base plate such that they exert a pressure on opposite edges of the metal plate.
