The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for forming an insertion-side fabric selvedge () on a gripper weaving machine, whereby: a) selectively one of several weft threads () that are provided on bobbins () is positioned in the running path () of a gripper (), while the other weft threads () are held outside of the running path, whereby: b) the weft thread positioned in the running path is grasped and inserted into a loom shed by the gripper (), whereby: c) thereafter the inserted weft thread () is beat-up against a binding line () by means of a weaving reed (), whereby: d) the inserted weft thread () is cut-off on the insertion side directly after the beat-up, and e) the bobbin-side weft thread end of a respective cut-off weft thread () is respectively grasped and held by a different suction chamber of a suction chamber block ().

Apparatus for forming a selvedge on a gripper weaving machine

A cart for transferring a warp exchange system from a machine that prepares such a warp exchange system to a warp beam lifting carriage, is equipped to at least temporarily store a prepared warp exchange system after having picked up the system from a warp drawing-in carriage that forms part of the machine for preparing the warp exchange system. The cart is further compatible to transfer the stored system to a warp beam lifting carriage which in turn inserts the system into a loom. The cart makes sure that the warp exchange system is presented with the proper orientation relative to the loom so that the insertion can take place in the manner of a cassette formed by the cart and the warp exchange system including the warp beam.

Apparatus for transferring a warp thread exchange system into a loom

Weft threads are presented to a gripper in shuttleless looms by needles, each guided by at least one straight guide held askew in a needle guide carrier (9). These straight needle guides due to their askew arrangement make sure that all needles together are located in and displaceable in a fan type plane twisted in space. In the working position for presenting a weft thread each needle eye is located on a short line (7) extending approximately in parallel to a gripper path. Thus, all weft threads in their presenting position are close to each other in a narrow presenting zone within the reach of the gripper path for a sure gripping at the beginning of the forward gripper motion. At its beginning the gripper speed is still slow so that the weft threads are gripped gently. The straight needle guides held askew in the at least one guide carrier (9) form a row of guides which is slanted by a given angle relative to the gripper path to form the fan type plane twisted in space. A second row of askew straight guides may be arranged in a second guide carrier ( 10).
