A control unit for a vehicle is configured to determine, during an approaching manoeuvre of a distance controller and/or cruise controller of the vehicle towards a vehicle in front, whether or not the vehicle will overtake or can overtake the vehicle in front during the approaching manoeuvre. Furthermore, during the approaching manoeuvre, the control unit is configured to adjust a behaviour of the cruise controller and/or adaptive cruise controller of the vehicle on the basis of the above determination.

A driver assistance system has an emergency stopping function for a motor vehicle. The driver assistance system is designed to perform an automated lane change from a first lane to a second lane when the emergency stopping function is triggered. The system has a first detection unit, designed to detect a traffic situation in which the vehicle is located on a multi-lane road in a non-passing lane relative to an additional traffic participant detected in an adjacent lane; a second detection unit, designed to detect a defined road class of the road currently being traveled; a third detection unit, designed to detect a defined separate lane of the road currently being traveled; and an evaluation and control unit, which is designed, when automated longitudinal guidance is active, depending on the detected road class and a detected separate travel lane, to allow or to prevent an overtaking of the additional traffic participant detected in the adjacent lane, in the non-passing lane.

Driver assistance system and method for automated driving comprising automated longitudinal guidance

A longitudinal driver assistance system in a motor vehicle includes a capture system configured to detect upcoming relevant events which require adaptation of a predefined maximum permissible top speed, and a functional unit which, upon detecting an upcoming relevant event, is configured to determine, based on a location of the upcoming relevant event, a first location or first time, the reaching of which causes the functional unit to output a notification to a driver of the vehicle relating to an automatic adaptation of the maximum permissible top speed. The functional unit is also configured to determine a second location or time to be reached after the first location or first time, respectively, the reaching of which causes the functional unit to intervene in a longitudinal guidance of the motor vehicle in a direction of a new maximum permissible top speed at the location of the upcoming relevant event if there is no driver-initiated refusal of the automatic adaptation of the maximum permissible top speed. Upon detecting the upcoming relevant event, the functional unit is configured to determine a third location or third time to be reached after the second location or second time, respectively, up to which point a driver-initiated refusal of the automatic adaptation of the maximum permissible top speed is permitted.

Longitudinal driver assistance system in a motor vehicle

A longitudinal control system is provided for a motor vehicle equipped with a sensor system for detecting a traffic event lying ahead, in particular in order to locate vehicles traveling ahead, and a control unit for automatically controlling the speed or the acceleration of the motor vehicle to a standstill on the basis of the traffic event lying ahead. An automatic drive-off is allowed without a driver confirmation within a specified time interval after reaching the standstill, and after the time interval has expired, an automatic start-up is allowed after a start-up confirmation is triggered by the driver. A start-up confirmation is triggered if a contacted state of the steering wheel is detected starting from a non-contacted state of the steering wheel.

Longitudinal control system for a motor vehicle

A distance information system and method are provided for a motor vehicle. At least one sensor measures the distance between the own motor vehicle and a vehicle situated ahead. A control unit is configured to determine as a function of signals of the sensor whether the measured distance is less than a specified minimum distance for longer than a specified time period. At least one optical display is activated when it is determined that the measured distance is less than the specified minimum distance for more than a specified time period. The minimum distance and/or the time period is/are defined as a function of a detected or inferred lane-change situation.

A driver assistance system in a motor vehicle, by which system, when the cruise control is activated, a predefined target speed is maintained essentially constantly via an electronic control device and sensors connected thereto. Depending on a control error with respect to the predefined speed, a drive system and/or a brake system is actuated with the aim of compensating the control error. The electronic control device is configured such that when a coasting mode is present with the cruise control actuated the current speed is detected by way of the sensors and the coasting mode is maintained despite a target-speed-dependent maximum permissible speed having been reached.

A driver assistance system in a motor vehicle includes a detection system for detecting upcoming events which permit an increase in current speed as a result of the lifting of a restriction on a currently valid speed, a functional unit for determining an acceleration strategy for increasing the speed, and an information system for issuing request information to the driver to allow automatic implementation of the acceleration strategy. The functional unit initiates the automatic implementation of the acceleration strategy upon confirmation by the driver of the request information. The request information can be issued to the driver already at a defined point in time before the upcoming event that lifts the restriction on the current speed. If the driver confirms the request information before the upcoming event that lifts the restriction on the current speed has been reached, the functional unit initiates an acceleration strategy that is composed of two-stages.

A speed control system for a motor vehicle has an electronic control device which generates actuation signals for controlling the speed of the motor vehicle to a specified desired speed, and a control element, on the actuation of which an intervention which influences the speed control is performed. The control element is designed in the form of a button. When the button is pressed, the system intervenes in the active speed control for the time for which the button is pressed in such a way that no drive torque is generated. When the button is no longer pressed, the original speed control is resumed.

Speed control system for motor vehicles

In the driver assistance system, a function module is provided for a speed limiting function by which certain conditions for exceeding a predefined maximum speed and for decelerating again down to the maximum speed are implemented. The function module generates signals for carrying out one or more measures to generate or increase the braking torque. The signal for carrying out the measures can be only a binary signal, or can correspond to a required braking torque progression in the form of a regulating step so as to reach the maximum speed within a predefined time period. In the second case, the predefined time period is preferably shorter than a defined time window during which a warning intervention of the speed limiting function is suppressed during an exception where the maximum speed is allowed to be exceeded.

Driver assistance system in a motor vehicle comprising a speed limiting function

A method of controlling the speed and/or the distance for motor vehicles having distance-controlled cruise control systems is provided in which a sensor unit determines relevant data of a vehicle driving ahead. In the event of a detection of a target object driving ahead, desired acceleration values and/or desired deceleration values for reaching a predetermined desired distance to the target object are determined and outputted. While considering the relevant data of the target object, a swinging-out probability of the target object is determined and, as a function of the determined swinging-out probability, an adaptation of the desired distance to the target object is carried out.

Method of controlling the speed and/or the distance for motor vehicles

The invention relates to a method for determining the vehicle speed of a motor vehicle, wherein a provisional first speed value is determined for high speeds and a provisional second speed value is determined for low speeds and the vehicle speed is determined as a function of the determined provisional first speed value either from the provisional first speed value or from the provisional second speed value, or from a combination of the first and second speed values.
