A gas storage and delivery system for restoring pressure as it is depleted from a pressurized container, includes a container holding a product under pressure to be dispensed from the container, a quantity of gaseous material under pressure, occupying a space in the container and applying to the product a predetermined pressure of from about 30 to about 180 psig, and a quantity of gas-adsorbing material, storing under pressure a quantity of the gaseous material and releasing it into the container in response to a decrease in pressure in the container, thereby restoring and maintaining a predetermined pressure in the container as product is depleted from the container, wherein the gas-adsorbing material is wetted with a release-promoting agent to promote release of the sorbed gas from the gas-adsorbent material. A process of filling the container is also disclosed.

System and method for providing a reserve supply of gas in a pressurized container

According to a first aspect of the invention a can manufacturer completes manufacture of a can and then ships it to a filler, who needs only to fill the can with product. In a preferred embodiment the manufacturer pre-charges the container with a propellant. In accordance with a second aspect of the invention a desired quantity of gaseous propellant is first charged into a container, and a desired quantity of product is then injected into the container. A container filled in accordance with the invention maintains a predetermined pressure in the container as product is depleted from the container, and unacceptable pressure spikes are avoided as the container is being filled.

Pressurized containers and methods for filling them

A gas adsorption material containing a desired quantity of gas is placed in a pressurized container along with a product to be dispensed, and as pressure in the container is depleted during use, stored gas is released into the container to maintain pressure in the container within a predetermined range. The material may be in contact with the product, or it may be isolated from the product, and is known as a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) system, wherein adsorption of gas into the material occurs at a high pressure, and desorption of gas from the material occurs at a low pressure. Such devices are capable of storing under pressure a volume of gas 18 to 20 times the volume of the material. A preferred adsorbent gas storage material is granular activated carbon, or a carbon fiber composite molecular sieve (CFCMS). Other materials, such as zeolite, starch-based polymers, activated alumina, silica gel, and sodium bicarbonate, or mixtures thereof, may be used, although they generally are not as effective as activated carbon. The adsorbent material may be in granular, powdered, or pellet form, or a mass of the material may be formed into variously shaped cohesive bodies, such as balls, tubes, cubes or rods, or sheets or screens which may be flat or curved or folded into various shapes, such as, for example, an accordion-like fold.

Gas storage and delivery system for pressurized containers

A shirt collar having a stretchable neckband made of a woven fabric with at least some of the threads on a bias so that in the event the length of the threads shrinks there is only a negligible reduction in the circumferential size of the collar, and the collar is circumferentially stretchable. In one form of the invention the neckband is made of a non-elastomeric material with a plurality of holes in it which elongate when a circumferential force is applied, resulting in elongation of the neckband. In another form, the threads forming the neckband are kinked so that they are resiliently yieldable in a lengthwise direction. The stitching attaching the neckband to the collar and to the shirt body may be applied in a pattern, e.g., zig-zag or skip stitching, that enables the seams to stretch.

Expandable, no-shrink shirt collar

A gas storage and delivery system for replacing gas lost from a pressurized container or a carbonated beverage, or for introducing a gas such as oxygen into a beverage such as bottled water or a sports drink.

A shirt collar in which the material forming at least the neckband, but alternatively both the neckband and the collar, is arranged with the weave thereof on a bias so that in the event the length of the threads shrinks there is only a negligible reduction in the circumferential size of the collar, and the collar is stretchable in a direction parallel to the circumferential direction. The stitching that forms the seams attaching the collar to the neckband, and the neckband to the body of the shirt, may be applied in a pattern, e.g., zig-zag or skip stitching, that enables the seams to stretch in the circumferential direction of the collar.

No-shrink shirt collar

An expandable shirt collar in which the material forming at least the neckband, but preferably both the neckband and the collar, is arranged with the weave thereof on a bias so that it is stretchable in a direction parallel to the circumferential direction of the collar. The stitching that forms the seams attaching the collar to the neckband, and the neckband to the body of the shirt, may be applied in a pattern, e.g., zig-zag or skip stitching, that enables the seams to stretch in the circumferential direction of the collar.

Expandable shirt collar

A dry, ready-to-eat cereal product in which pieces of cereal are coated with a dry powdered milk or milk substitute product that is reconstitutable in hot or cold water to produce a cereal having flavor, appearance and nutritional value comparable to an equivalent cereal that is not coated with the dried milk or milk substitute product but to which liquid milk has been added.

Milk-coated cereal product

An individual serving size cereal package containing a dry, ready-to-eat cereal, in which a quantity of dry cereal pieces are placed in a container with a dry milk product, such as dry powdered milk or milk substitute, and other additives, such as nutrients, sweeteners and flavorings, to form a food product that is nutritional and convenient to eat, and is also simple and economical to make.

Individual serving size cereal package

An expandable shirt collar has one or more transverse reinforced cuts or openings in the neckband which spread apart or open when a longitudinal force is applied to the neckband to effectively elongate the neckband to compensate for shrinkage of the shirt collar or an increase in neck size of the wearer. In one form of the invention, a vertically oriented button hole at one end of the band may serve as the cut or opening, either alone or in combination with additional cuts or openings spaced from the ends of the band. In another form of the invention, a piece of expandable pleated material may be sewn into the cut or opening. Also disclosed are a button having an elongate oval shape, and/or a notched periphery, to facilitate placement of the button through a button hole.

Articles of the invention include cereal food products prepared in their manufacture processes with a specialized surface coating which operates to make a cereal product which can be easily mixed with water only to yield a good tasting product. A coating of milk or milk-like substance applied to the surface of cereal pieces may be mixed with water. The result is cereal in a liquid substance of reconstituted milk or substance which resembles milk. The mixture of cereals of the invention and water substitute for the common combination of cereal and real milk.

Cereal having a functional surface coating

A package for storing, mixing and dispensing multi-component products in which the components must be maintained separate from one another until just prior to use, and then mixed together for use. The package includes an outer container for holding a first material, and an inner container within the first container for holding a second material. The inner and outer containers, and particularly the inner container, are flexible tubes with a flattened and sealed end. The other end of the inner tube is closed by a displaceable plug which may be displaced therefrom upon exertion of a predetermined compressive force caused, for example, by simultaneously squeezing the outer and inner containers. Displacement of the closure plug from the inner container enables the first and second materials to be mixed together. A valved closure is on the other end of the outer container to maintain it closed until it is desired to mix and dispense the material therein, and an applicator is carried by a resilient applicator adaptor releasably attached to the closure, for applying the material to a surface.

Package for storing, mixing and dispensing multi-component products

An apparatus and method for containing, mixing and dispensing multiple component products, wherein the components are maintained separate from one another until immediately prior to use, and the components are then mixed together to form a product for use. The apparatus includes a pressurized outer container for holding a primary component, and a pressurized inner container supported inside the outer container for holding a secondary component separate from the primary component. The inner container is openable when the pressure inside the inner container exceeds that in the outer container by a predetermined amount, whereby the interiors of the inner and outer containers are in communication with one another to enable admixture of the two components. In use, the primary component is introduced into the outer container and pressurized to a predetermined pressure. The secondary component is then introduced into the inner container and pressurized to a predetermined pressure less than the pressure in the outer container. When it is desired to admix the two components and dispense the resulting product, the outer container is inverted and part of the pressure therein released, until the pressure in the inner container exceeds that in the outer container by a predetermined amount, whereupon the inner container opens and the two components are admixed.

Multi-compartment pressurized mixing dispenser

A product and process for relaxing and softening the fibers in textile fabrics. The product consisting essentially of an alcohol-aqueous admixture including a silicone-glycol copolymer surfactant and/or a fluorinated alkyl ester surfactant together with a quaternary ammonium salt surfactant. The product being preferably applied to the fabric in the form of a very fine mist and in quantities just sufficient to dampen the fabric. The dampened fabric is manipulated so as to form it to the desired configuration and it is maintained in that configuration while it drys.

Wrinkle removing solution and process for using same

A method and apparatus are disclosed for delayed release of additional ingredients including additional propellant within a pressurized dispensing container. A reserve container within the primary product container is constructed to open or rupture as a result of a predetermined degree of depressurization of the primary container to release its contents and repressurize the primary container to enable subsequent ejection of product. A catalytic activation system is disclosed as one possible application of this invention.
