Dressing or bandage for protecting a wound accidentally incurred, surgical incision deliberately made in the skin, epidermal delivery of medication, or musculotherapy of a human being or animal, said bandage/dressing having the primary characteristic of being significantly atraumatic upon removal of same by virtue of a novel stringlike member that is intentionally incorporated into or debossed into the construction of said parent bandage/dressing in a multi-spiral geometry, said stringlike member firstly being pulled gently and progressively in multiple turns around the wound site or epidermal treatment area to in effect significantly reduce the area of remaining/undisturbed adhesive between the bandage/dressing and patient's skin before the bandage/dressing is peeled away from the skin in conventional manner and thus affording the patient a significantly less traumatic experience.

A temperature measuring device includes a temperature-responsive element that mechanically moves a first inductive assembly component relative to a second inductive assembly component in response to temperature changes. The movement of the first inductive assembly component relative to the second inductive assembly component generates a change in a local eddy current pattern that corresponds to the sensed temperature.

A pressure gauge comprising a stem having an inlet at which pressure is sensed. A Bourdon tube is coupled to the stem and is displaceable in response to pressure changes at the inlet. A movement comprising a movement plate conducts displacement of the Bourdon tube to a pointer shaft. A circuit board comprising an inductor is fixed relative to the stem. The movement plate comprises an integral flag connecting the movement to the Bourdon tube and an integral inductive target operatively positioned relative to the inductor.

Various embodiments are disclosed of dampening apparatus for a pressure gauge in which a short length of sleeve, ferrule, hub or thimble encircles a pointer shaft in a close but loose fit relation defining a clearances packed with a high viscosity dampening agent such that it serves to decelerate and cushion any sudden shock or pulsation force that would otherwise be transmitted from the pointer shaft to a pointer registering values of pressure of fluid pressure being monitored.

A temperature sensing probe assembly for correcting fluid volume readout of a fluid meter in response to fluid temperature in relation to a standard measurement of temperature for the fluid. A temperature sensitive bimetallic probe is adapted to be immersed in the meter fluid and is enclosed in a tubular metal sheath for protecting the probe against potential injury when handled. Perforations in the sheath enable direct contact between the fluid and the probe.

A sensor element suitable for sensing pressure values of fluid pressure at high pressure ranges on the order of 40,000 psi and above and comprised of a predetermined length of a closed end tube which at zero applied pressure is of rectilinear configuration. The tube contains a round bore eccentrically disposed parallel within the tube having one end open at which to receive fluid pressure. By virtue of the eccentric relationship of the bore to the tube, an internal bending moment occurs under pressure loading that is proportional to the applied pressure and which bending moment causes the free closed end of the tube to deflect in a direction opposite to the direction to the which the bore was predisposed with respect to the OD center line of the tube. In a preferred embodiment, the unsupported free length of the tube is at least about 20 times the tube OD and for operating at the high pressure ranges, the tube is of a metal composition characterized by relatively high tensile yield strength in combination with a relatively low Young's elastic modulus. Various applications for use of the tube are disclosed including a pressure gauge, switch mechanism, etc.

A vent plug assembly for relieving overpressure from within an instrument casing and comprising a body adapted for secured placement within an aperture defined in the exterior wall of the casing and having a thru-bore and a blind recess symetrically spaced apart and of like configuration and internal cross-sectional dimension. A cooperating plug having a top plate and a pair of dependent stubs of like cross-sectional configuration and spacing as the thru-bore and recess of said body is interchangeably insertable within the thru-bore and recess of the body with one of the stubs defining a blind upward recess and the other of said stubs defining a thru-bore. The plug is interchangeably displaceable manually such that when the respective thru-bore of the body and plug are interfitted, continuous venting occurs while when the blind recess stub of the plug is inserted in the thru-bore of the body, venting occurs only at a predetermined value of pressure build-up from within the casing sufficient to expel the assembly from the installed aperture of the casing.

An improved closure for a pressure gauge includes a stem or a sleeve which selectively provides a vent path when set by the end user. The closure device provides an automatic venting if in the normally closed condition by means of an overpressure valve arrangement in the sleeve. Therefore the two functions are incorporated in the single closure device.

A gauge (10) is disclosed which incorporates an improved case assembly. In one embodiment, a case (14) is designed for use with either a bayonet ring (22) or a friction fit ring such as an elastomeric ring (50) or a push in window (156). In the first embodiment, cam followers (28) are positioned in pockets (46) formed on the case (14) to orient the followers and the followers are then secured to the case, as by welding. Cam surfaces (32) on the bayonet ring (22) cooperate with the followers to secure the ring on the case. When using a friction fit ring (50, 150) the case defines an interior surface (44) to receive the ring. In a second embodiment, curved strips (132) are secured to the exterior surface of the case (130). Cam followers (140) are used on the bayonet ring (138) to cooperate with the cam surfaces on the curved strips to secure the ring to the case. Alternately, an elastomeric ring (50) or push in ring (152) can be used with the case (130).

Custom sized wrench flats of a relatively large dimension are weld attached to a round stock socket of a post-assembled pressure gauge. This enables cost effective pre-assembly of the gauge components while complying with code standard size requirements for the wrench flats.

A liquid filled pressure gauge in which temperature induced volumetric changes inposed on the liquid fill are compensated for by a tensioned flexible diaphragm secured in a pressure-tight spaced relation on a cover plate for the gauge casing. For receiving the diaphragm pre-tensioned, the cover includes an annulus extending laterally from the cover surface with a negative draft on its circumference. By virtue of the diametral relationship between the outside diameter of the diaphragm about the draft surface of the annulus and the internal diameter of the case opening, the diaphragm incurs a friction fit as the cover is emplaced causing diaphragm tension to be increased.
