Insulating tape for making an impregnated insulating sleeve for electric conductors. An insulating tape based on breakdown-proof inorganic material and a bonding agent/accelerator mixture is developed in such a manner that, by means of heat-hardening impregnating resins, insulating sleeves for electric conductors with improved thermal-mechanical properties can be made therefrom. To this end, the bonding agent/accelerator mixture is a mixture of an epoxy resin/(meth) acrylic acid adduct, a bismaleimide resin and an adduct of a secondary amine and a polyfunctional (meth) acrylic acid ester which may optionally contain an organic peroxide.

A heat-hardenable reaction resin mixture including a polyisocyanate; a polyepoxy resin and an olefinically unsaturated compound having no active hydrogen atoms. The two tape multiple layered sheath gives increased dielectric strength and heat resistance without impairing resin impregnation capacity.

An insulating tape containing mica serves for manufacturing an insulating sleeve of electric conductors, impregnated with a thermo-setting epoxy resin mixture. The binder for cementing the mica is a self-hardening mixture with an accelerator for the impregnating resin mixture. In order that all kinds of epoxy resins can be used as impregnating resins, quaternary onium salts are added as accelerators to the epoxy resin used as the binder.

Addition complexes of tertiary amines and boron trichloride of the general formula BCl.sub.3.NR.sub. 1 R.sub.2 R.sub. 3 are used as an accelerator system for a heat-curing reaction resin mixture of purified polyisocyanate and polyepoxy resin compounds. Insulation impregnated with this reaction resin mixture exhibits high thermal stability in the hardened condition and can be used at high operating temperatures.
