A method of calculating an individual progressive lens creates one or more basic designs for lenses based on theoretical specifications, and then creates starting designs from these basic designs. Individual progressive lenses are calculated from the starting designs corresponding to the individual data from wearing test subjects. Valid starting designs are then created for production. The individual lenses are calculated from the starting designs according to individual customer data.

Method for calculating an individual progressive lens

An individual eyeglass lens in which the vertical distance from the near reference point to the far distance point amounts to max. 18 millimeters, the progressive length is max. 14 millimeters, the main progressive length is max. 10 millimeters and the increase in refractive index, starting from the effect of the eyeglass lens at the far reference point up to a point 2 millimeters below the centering point amounts to less than 10% of the addition. The progressive length corresponds essentially to the vertical distance between the far reference point and a point essentially on the main line at which, starting from the far reference point, the value of the effect of the eyeglass lens corresponding the first time essentially to the near value.

Individual eyeglass lens

A method is described for designing and optimizing an individual spectacle lens. The invention is characterized in that a draft design is made by an ophthalmologist on a video workstation by means of a computer program; the design is communicated to a manufacturer or an optical computing office; and that the manufacturer optimizes an individual spectacle lens on the basis of these stipulations.

The invention relates to a method of producing a single-strength spectacle lens while taking into account an individual spectacle wearer's data, the single-strength spectacle lens having a rotationally symmetrical base surface and a rotationally symmetrical aspherical or atoric prescription surface, comprising the following steps: The invention also relates to a corresponding system for producing a single-strength spectacle lens and to an individual single-strength spectacle lens.

Individual single-vision spectacle lens

A workplace screen lens, having a workplace screen lens optimized at the middle of the lens for the middle viewing distances of approximately 60 centimeters to approximately 90 centimeters, and the progressive channel at the middle of the lens is at least 4 millimeters wide. The effect increases from the middle of the lens toward the bottom with the vertical coordinate y equal to approximately 0, reaching a near vision zone with an essentially constant effect at y equal to approximately &#x2212;12 millimeters. The progressive channel has a width of least 15 millimeters in the near vision zone, preferably at the near-reference point, the effect decreases from the middle of the lens up to y equal to approximately +10 millimeters to approximately +12 millimeters above the middle of the lens. The progressive length amounts to approximately 20 millimeters to approximately 25 millimeters, the main progressive length is between approximately 7 millimeters and approximately 12 millimeters, and the minimum width of the progressive channel amounts to at least 4 millimeters.

Workplace screen lens

An ophthalmic lens and a method for producing a progressive ophthalmic lens having at least one progressive surface, where by a calculation and optimization step in the production of the progressive lens is performed. The absolute value of the rotation |rot {right arrow over (A)}| and/or the divergence |div {right arrow over (A)}| of a vectorial astigmatism {right arrow over (A)} is as small as possible, and the absolute value |{right arrow over (A)}| of the vectorial astigmatism {right arrow over (A)} is proportional to the absolute value of an astigmatism in the use position of the progressive lens. The direction of the vectorial astigmatism {right arrow over (A)} is proportional to the axial position of an astigmatism in the use position of the progressive lens or a surface astigmatism of the at least one progressive surface of the progressive lens.

Series of progressive ophthalmic lenses with low divergence and rotation of astigmatism

A double progressive spectacle lens in which a first prescribed progressive surface can be freely designed. The second progressive surface is then optimized in relation to the first prescribed surface. Thereby, the resulting spectacle lens avoids the need to employ a classic hourglass design progression zone and produces optical and geometric advantages such as an overall height of the progressive lens.

A double progressive spectacle lens having a prefabricated progressive surface and a second progressive surface for correcting a spherical ametropia or a cylindrical ametropia, in which the surface properties of the progressive surface in the vicinity of the principal line of sight are asymmetric, the asymmetry being determined by the symmetry factor S, which is determined in relation to the level A by the ratio of the smaller to the larger horizontal distance between the principal line of sight and the location at which the surface astigmatism in the horizontal section reaches the value A [dpt].

Method for manufacturing an eyeglass lens

A spectacle lens having in a first see-through region a power suitable for distant viewing in a wearing position, and in a second see-through region a power suitable for medium-distance viewing, i.e. for distances of about 1 meter and more, in a wearing position, and in which the power continuously increases from the first see-through region along a plane or winding principal line to the second see-through region. The spectacle lens has the following features: the power increases not only from the first see-through region to the second see-through region, but also continuously to beyond the second see-through region to a lower edge of the spectacle lens; and a region of clear vision, i.e. a region in which a residual astigmatism of a system spectacle-lens/eye does not exceed 0.5 dpt, narrows below the first see-through region towards the lower edge of the spectacle lens to have a funnel-shaped configuration, i.e. without any constriction.

Progressive spectacle lens for seeing objects at a large or average distance

A method for representing and optimizing a double-progressive spectacle lens is characterized by the following steps: selecting a suitable coordinate system K2 for the representation of a back surface; selecting a suitable grid G for the representation of a spline of the back surface of a starting lens to be optimized in a coordinate system K2; assigning sagittal height data of the back surface to a spline (back surface spline); defining a position of a center of rotation of an eye; computing principal rays from the center of rotation of the eye through the starting lens at grid points of G; computing a length of a distance between points of penetration of a thus computed principal ray through a front surface and the back surface (oblique thickness); assigning data of the oblique thickness (thickness spline) to a spline; selecting a set of assessment positions at which an optical quality is computed for a target function; suitably selecting particular optical and geometrical stipulations which ideally should be satisfied at the assessment positions; defining the target function as a deviation of the quality of an actual spectacle lens from ideal values; starting the optimization; evaluating at each one of optimization steps the optical properties in a wearing position at the assessment points by means of surface properties to be computed and actual principal ray data; ending the optimization when the target function is below a particular value, or after a specifiable maximum number of optimization steps.
