In order to improve a lathe comprising a machine frame, a spindle housing which is arranged on the machine frame and in which a workpiece spindle rotatable about a spindle axis is arranged, as well as at least one functional unit designed as a tool carrier and/or as a workpiece transport device in such a manner that as efficient a machining as possible of the workpiece is possible, it is suggested that the spindle housing be designed as an upright housing member, that the upright housing member be arranged on one side of a working space and border on it and that several functional units be arranged on the upright housing member.

Lathe

A machine tool having a machine frame. A first workpiece carrier unit is disposed on the machine frame and has a workpiece receiving mechanism. At least one tool carrier unit is disposed on the machine frame, on which at least one tool for machining a workpiece held in the workpiece receiving mechanism is disposed. In an embodiment, there is a working space, in which a workpiece, held in the workpiece receiving means, can be machined with the tool. In an embodiment, the tool carrier unit has a tool carrier base and a tool carrier head, which is movable in relation to the tool carrier base along an axis of advance via a guiding arm. The tool carrier head is rotatable about an axis of rotation coincident or parallel to the axis of advance, by the tool carrier head being fixedly connected to the guiding arm and by the tool carrier head being formed as a multiple tool carrier which has at least two tool planes, in which at least one respective tool extends in at least one of its tool directions.

Machine tool

The invention relates to a turning center which comprises a machine frame, a first workpiece spindle unit having a first workpiece spindle, a second workpiece spindle unit, which is disposed on the machine frame and having a second workpiece spindle, at least one tool carrier unit, which is disposed on the machine frame and on which at least one tool for machining a workpiece held in the workpiece spindle units is disposed, and a working space, in which workpieces held in the workpiece spindle units can be machined with the tool. The aim of the invention is to provide a turning center which is compact as possible while allowing extensive turning and/or milling applications, and also ensures highest possible machining accuracy. For this purpose, the machine frame having a machine bed formed by two spaced-apart columns, by the first workpiece spindle unit being disposed on a front side of a first of the columns, facing the working space, by the second workpiece spindle unit being disposed on a front side of a second of the columns, facing the working space, and by the at least one tool carrier unit being disposed on a transverse side of one of the columns, facing the respective other column.

Turning center

In order to improve a machine tool for machining a workpiece by a relative movement between the workpiece and a tool, comprising a first receiving device for the workpiece or the tool, a compound slide system with a second receiving device for the tool or the workpiece and comprising a drive device for moving the second receiving device in relation to the first receiving device, which drive device acts at least two spaced-apart points of application by at least three drive struts extending parallel to at least two different directions and each with a pivot joint, and with which drive device the at least two points of application can be positioned by means of the at least three drive struts, in such a way that exact positioning of the second slide element can be achieved by structural measures, it is proposed that four drive struts of invariant length, each with a pivot joint, act on the slide element, each of which struts is pivotally connected to a guiding slide, which is guided in a linearly movable manner transversely in relation to the longitudinal direction of the respective drive struts, and a maximum of two of which drive struts run parallel to one another.

The invention relates to a machine tool, especially a lathe, comprising a machine frame upon which a first and second spindle housing carrier are arranged in such a way that they can move in a direction Z in relation to each other; a first working spindle; a second working spindle; a first tool carrier which is associated with the first working spindle; a second tool carrier which is associated with the second working spindle, said first and second tool carriers being arranged on the same side of the spindle axis; and a machine control unit. In order to improve upon one such machine tool, whereby more work tools can be used simultaneously on workpieces, the spindle housing carriers extend sidewards away from the spindle housings and a third tool carrier, which can move at least in a direction X and which is associated with one of the working spindles, is provided between the spindle housing carriers of the first and second working spindles on a side of the spindle axis which is approximately opposite to the first and second tool carrier.

The present invention provides an improved machine tool, comprising a machine frame, a support arranged on the machine frame and having a first receiving means for the workpiece or the tool. A cross slide system is arranged on the machine frame and has a second receiving means for the tool or the workpiece which can be moved by the cross slide system in a movement zone of a cross slide movement surface. The cross slide system may comprise two slide elements, one of which is supported on the machine frame and the other bears the second receiving means, such that the slide elements are guided so as to be movable on one another by a single two-dimensional guide means which is movable in the direction of both cross slide movement axes. The guide means determines the precision of the guidance of the second receiving means parallel to the cross slide movement surface. A drive device may be provided, with which the slide element bearing the second receiving means can be moved and fixed in position relative to the other slide element in the two cross slide movement directions with a defined alignment of the slide elements relative to one another.

A lathe is provided which includes at least one workpiece spindle which is rotatable about a spindle axis. The lathe includes two tool carrier systems each comprising a slide system having at least a Z slide and a X slide and further comprising a tool carrier. The tool carrier system is movable relative to the machine frame in a Z direction parallel to the spindle axis. Each of the tool carrier systems is guided independently of the other respective tool carrier system with its own Z slide in the Z direction on the machine frame. The tool carrier systems are arranged on the same side of the spindle axis and each tool carrier system is movable in the Z direction on a path extending towards the other tool carrier system. Each slide system has a guide plane for the X slide defined by a X guide.

In order to improve a machine tool comprising a machine frame, at least one workpiece receiving means which can be rotated about an axis and fixed in a defined rotary position, a tool carrier arrangement, with a rotatingly driven tool which can be moved by means of a control and aligned such that the tool spindle axis is located in planes intersecting the axis and forming with this axis an angle in the range of approximately 0&deg; to approximately 90&deg;, in such a manner that the distances to be traveled can be reduced it is suggested that the tool carrier arrangement comprise a tool spindle carrier which can be pivoted about a pivot axis in relation to a bearing housing, can be fixed on the bearing housing in at least one machining position and extends only on one side of the pivot axis in an angular range of less than 180&deg; around the pivot axis and away from it and that the tool spindle be arranged on the tool spindle carrier such that its tool spindle axis is in a position non-coaxial to the pivot axis.

In a tool turret for a machine tool, in particular, a lathe, comprising a turret head rotatable about a turret indexing axis, the turret head tapering on either side of a diameter plane of the turret head extending perpendicularly to the turret indexing axis and having on each side of this diameter plane a circular ring-shaped row of tool stations which is concentric with the indexing axis, each of the tool stations having a tool receiving means for clamping a toolholder for a machining tool, in order to increase the machining operations which are performable with a tool turret and the machining accuracy, such a tool turret is so designed that: each tool station comprises a planar contact surface formed by the outer surfaces of the turret head for a toolholder; the contact surfaces of the two rows of tool stations define regular pyramids of identical shape which point away from one another and whose axes coincide with the turret indexing axis; each row of tool stations has at least one tool receiving means for a drivable tool, and the axis of the tool receiving means extends perpendicularly to the contact surface of the respective tool station; and two adjacent tool receiving means for drivable tools belong to different rows of tool stations and are offset from one another with respect to angle of rotation in relation to the turret indexing axis.

A tool fixing device for machine tools has a tool holder with a tool holder body for bearing the tool, and a tool carrier with a tool station. The tool station has a support surface and a receiver for receiving a shaft from the tool holder. An aligning device operative between the tool holder body and the tool carrier is used to position the tool holder body relative to the tool carrier, such that the tool holders in the respective tool station of the tool carrier need not be readjusted each time they are inserted. The aligning device has two aligning elements, one on the tool carrier, and the other on the tool holder body. When the shaft from the tool holder is clamped in the receiver on the tool station, the aligning elements fix the tool carrier so as to be aligned in a single position using form-fitting elements which engage in one another without clearance.

A CNC automatic lathe has at least one carriage system having an X, a Y, and a Z axis that carries a tool revolver designed as a so-called disk revolver for working with lathe tools and rotary machining tools. In order to reduce as much as possible the distance between a defined cutting plane for the turning process and the carriage system, the Y axis forms with the normal to the cutting plane a relatively small acute angle (beta), so that when the tool revolver is rotated in a controlled manner around its axis, a rotatively driven machining tool mounted on the revolver and located in its working position is swivelled with its axis of rotation through an acute angle out of the cutting plane in the direction of the carriage system. The machining area of the machining tool thus described a movement with a component that extends in the minus direction of the Y axis.

An automatic lathe having two workpiece spindles each provided with a workpiece clamping device and arranged with coaxial spindle axes. At least one of the workpiece spindles is arranged on a slide guided for displacement in the direction of the spindle axis and displaceable in the direction of the spindle axis by a drive element and a coupling device between the drive element and the slide. In order to compensate for axial movement component of the clamping device during clamping, the coupling device is designed such that in a first condition thereof, the slide is freely displaceable relative to the drive element in the direction of the spindle axis and opposite to the axial movement component of the clamping device. In a second condition of the coupling device, the slide is not displaceable relative to the drive element in the direction of the spindle axis.
