There is disclosed a high voltage transformer for a television receiver, comprising a coil former in which there are situated auxiliary windings, a primary winding over the auxiliary windings, and a high voltage winding over the primary winding. A first sleeve forms a flat base for the primary winding, and is arranged on the auxiliary windings. The primary winding is wound from a plurality of layers of solid wire, each layer disposed directly over the other, and a further sleeve made of a dielectric inserted between two of the plurality of layers.

A high-voltage transformer for a television receiver is known to be tuned to a specific harmonic of the frequency of the flyback oscillation in order to reduce the internal resistance of the high-voltage source. In certain cases such as, for example, a channel change, a particularly high beam current of the order of magnitude of 3 to 5 mA briefly occurs. As a result of such a current surge, overshoots are produced at the transformer which may increase the flyback voltage at the switching transistor by approximately 150 V and thus endanger the transistor. The object is to design the transformer in such a way that overshoots of this type are reduced. According to the invention, the number of partial windings (W2-W5) is greater than the number of diodes (3-5), and separate partial windings (W2-W5) are tuned to different harmonics. This tuning causes the quality factor to be reduced and the attenuation and the bandwidth to be increased in the system. As a result, the flyback pulse at the high-voltage winding becomes larger and wider and the internal resistance of the high-voltage source is reduced. In addition, interfering overshoots of this pulse, which bring about an increase in the amplitude of the flyback pulse at the primary winding, are significantly reduced. A high-voltage transformer for a television display device having a core made of two core parts. One end of a core limb is chamfered or rounded on the outside such that the contact region is distal from the outer edge of the core limb. The end of the core limb is preferably provided with a bevel.

A high voltage transformer for a television receiver includes a primary winding and a secondary winding. The secondary winding is compartmentalized and is separated from the primary winding by a space. The secondary winding has a plurality of partial windings which are arranged in cells of a compartmentalized coil form and are connected to one another by diodes. The partial windings are positioned and dimensioned with respect to the primary winding to cause substantially equal pulse voltages of like polarity to exist at the neighboring portions of the primary winding and the partial windings in the vicinity of the space, to substantially eliminate pulse electric fields in the space.

A line end stage for a television receiver which comprises a transformer, a first high voltage rectifier and a second high voltage rectifier. The transformer has a primary winding coupled to the line sweep coils of the receiver, and a secondary winding. The secondary winding has one end coupled through the first high voltage rectifier to ground and through the second high voltage rectifier to the anode of the television receiver picture tube. The transformer comprises a core having a longitudinal axis. The primary winding is mounted on the core coaxial with the longitudinal axis and an insulating winding form surrounds the primary winding. The winding form is provided with spaced longitudinally-distributed radially-extending chambers and the secondary winding is located within these chambers. The thicknesses of the winding form between the bottoms of the chambers and the primary winding are greatest at the ends of the winding form and become progressively smaller toward the center of the form.
