A rear dumping brush-type lawn sweeper for attachment to a garden tractor includes a hamper assembly which is mounted on a support frame for pivotal movement. The support frame is carried on the main frame of the brush housing. The hamper assembly carries an open top hamper bag. The top of the bag is normally closed by a mesh-type folding wind apron. A forward portion of the apron is attached to the hamper assembly, while a rear portion of the apron is attached to a rear cross member forming part of the hamper support frame. The wind apron, at its rear terminal end, forms a closure with the rear lip of the hamper bag in the normal running position. When the hamper is rotated rearwardly on the support frame for dumping, the wind screen folds on itself and exposes a rear dumping opening with the rear hamper bag lip.

A hand-held, power driven cultivator includes a housing and cultivator blades which rotate about axes oblique to the vertical axis of the cultivator, the blades extending generally in planes which converge beneath the housing. The cultivator is driven by an electrical motor and has a power train which includes a speed reduction gear arrangement. The cultivator blades may overlap slightly as they rotate and may be formed of hardened metal or plastic. The housing of the cultivator is provided with a skirt which extends outwardly and downwardly about the sides and rear of the housing. The skirt is provided with lower depending side shield portions and a rear rake or spreading portion. The rear rake or spreading portion is formed with notches or teeth to smooth and spread cultivated dirt.

A system is provided for handling debris, such as twigs, leaves, grass cuttings, refuse and the like comprising a fan-shredding device including a vacuum nozzle, the nozzle being shut off from the fan suction when various units are mounted thereon, such as a hopper and a flexible extension hose. Also, a blower is provided by similarly mounting a cowl on the nozzle and a blower tube on the discharge chute of the fan-shredding device. Shredded debris is bagged in a bag mounted on the discharge chute. On bagging, the shredded debris is compacted by the fan blowing action on the small shredded particles.
