The present invention provides apparatus, methods, and computer program products that can decrease the latency with which the coefficients of a function representative of signal are determined. Specifically, the apparatus, methods, and computer program products of the present invention, taking advantage of the independence of samples, updates each of the coefficients of the function as each sample is received. As such, when the final sample is received, the apparatus, methods, and computer program products of the present invention need only update each coefficient with the contribution of the last sample prior to outputting the coefficients. As such, the latency from the time the last sample is received and the availability of the coefficients is decreased. To further decrease the latency, in one embodiment, the apparatus, methods, and computer program products of the present invention prestore either all or a portion of the possible values of the contribution of a sample to each coefficient, such that. As such, when the sample is received, the apparatus, methods, and computer program products of the present invention evaluate the value of the sample and retrieve the appropriate value from the prestored values that corresponds to the coefficient, sample, and value of the sample, thereby decreasing the time required to determine the coefficients. The apparatus, methods, and computer program products of the present invention also allow individual or subsets of the coefficients to be observed and also allow individual or subsets of the coefficients to be determined in varying resolutions.

The present invention provides apparatus, methods, and computer program products for non-iterative division and non-iterative reciprocal generation. In one embodiment, the present invention uses a logic network that determines the bits of the quotient of a divisor and dividend by using a non-iterative, (i.e., non trial and error), method. Further, in another embodiment, the present invention may determine the reciprocal of a number M by separating the number M into at least two numbers X, Y . . . Z so that M=X+Y+ . . . +Z. The reciprocal of M is computed according to an equation 1/M=F(X,Y . . . Z) or an approximation 1/M&#x2248;G(X,Y . . . Z), where the approximation gives the correct value of the inverse of M to a predetermined accuracy. In some embodiments, the apparatus uses an equation that exactly describes the reciprocal or instead, it may include one or more memories for storing look-up tables containing pre-calculated parts of the equation.

Apparatus, methods and computer program products for performing high speed division calculations

The present invention provides apparatus, methods, and computer program products for providing coefficients of a function representative of a signal. In one embodiment, the apparatus, methods, and computer program products of the present invention, taking advantage of the independence of samples, provide complete sets of coefficients of the function as each sample is received and corrects the updated coefficients for accuracy by applying a rotating reference system. As such, the apparatus, methods, and computer program products of the present invention are capable of providing accurate coefficients with decreased latency. In another, embodiment, the apparatus, methods, and computer program products of the present invention use learning models to derive complete sets of coefficients of functions as each sample is received. In another embodiment, the apparatus, methods, and computer program products of the present invention use learning models to determine apparatus, methods, and computer program products for generating coefficients of functions.

Apparatus, methods, and computer program products for accurately determining the coefficients of a function

Apparatus, methods, and computer program products are provided for generating a second set of equations requiring reduced numbers of computations from a first set of general equations, wherein each general equation defines coefficients in terms of a set of samples and a plurality of functions having respective values. A first set of tokens is initially assigned to the plurality of functions such that every value of the functions that has a different magnitude is assigned a different token, thereby permitting each general equation to be defined by the set of samples and their associated tokens. Each general equation is then evaluated and the samples having the same associated token are grouped together. A second set of tokens is then assigned to represent a plurality of unique combinations of the samples. The second set of equations is then generated based at least on the first and second sets of tokens.

Apparatus, methods, and computer program products for reducing the number of computations and number of required stored values for information processing methods

Energy is conserved in a bar code reader by taking bar code samples on demand or as necessary, primarily when a data bearing feature of the bar code is predicted to be proximate. A plurality of samples are obtained for a bar code. Preferably, an analog to digital converter converts each of the samples into a multi-bit digital value. A feature detector is connected to the analog to digital converter for detecting bar code features from the plurality of multi-bit digital values. The displacements among the detected data bearing features are compared to thereby determine the width of bars having first and second data values in order to decode the bar code. Preferably, a relative scan speed is extracted and kept current during the scan in order to predict code feature locations. Preferably the decoding proceeds concurrently with the sampling. A controller regulates the execution of sampling based upon the predicted feature locations, and preferably reduces or eliminates sampling when no required feature is predicted.

Predictive bar code decoding system and method

A portable optical data reader for optically sensing and decoding data, comprising a carrier oscillator for producing a carrier signal at a predetermined frequency, an optical emitter electrically connected to the carrier oscillator for emitting optical radiation in an optical path to an optical data carrier at the predetermined frequency, an optical detector for detecting the emitted optical radiation returning from the optical data carrier thereby receiving the optical data and producing a detected electrical signal responsive thereto, and a double balanced demodulator electrically connected to the optical detector and the carrier oscillator for combining the detected radiation signal with the carrier signal to demodulate the optical data with the optical data carrier. A method of sensing and decoding optical data comprising-the steps of oscillating a carrier signal, transmitting the carrier signal to an optical emitter, thereby illuminating the optical emitter adjacent optical data, reflectively sensing the illumination from the optical emitter, thereby receiving the optical data, and demodulating the optical data by use of the oscillating carrier signal.
