Jettisonable sabot for a subcaliber projectile. In a jettisonable sabot for a subcaliber projectile, which is fired from a weapon barrel having helical grooves, there is a risk that individual segments of a sabot body, strike the projectile body with their edges during the separation from the projectile body, with these impacts against the projectile body impairing the impact accuracy. In order to avoid these impacts, the parting planes or slots between the individual segments of the sabot body are not arranged radially, as in the past, but rather parallel with radial planes with a specified distance (d) corresponding to at least half of the radius (R) of the projectile body, with the slits between the segments of the sabot jacket preferably being arranged parallel to radial planes with a specified distance (d).

Releasable sabot for a subcaliber projectile

The fragmentation jacket of a projectile or shell should be prefragmentized in the simplest possible manner by means of reference fracture locations provided at the inner side or interior surface of the fragmentation jacket. For this purpose, the reference fracture locations are impressed into a disk, for example, by stamping. Subsequently, the thus formed disk is shaped by deep drawing to form a fragmentation jacket such that the reference fracture locations formed by grooves are located at the inner side or interior surface of a cup-shaped fragmentation jacket. This cup-shaped fragmentation jacket is filled with an explosive charge which is detonated by a base fuze or by a tip or point fuze.

Method of producing a fragmentation jacket

A sabot projectile having a pyrotechnic composition, especially a flare composition, arranged at the projectile body, wherein only a part of the pyrotechnic composition protrudes into a recess adapted to receive the same and provided at the tail of the projectile body. The part of the pyrotechnic composition protruding out of the tail of the projectile body is surrounded by a shell or jacket.

Sabot projectile having a pyrotechnic composition

An explosive projectile which comprises a projectile body possessing a hollow compartment for receiving an explosive charge, a rear end surface, a border ring extending rearwardly from the rear end surface. A tracer composition sleeve is secured to the projectile body and possesses a front end surface which sealingly bears at the rear end surface of the projectile body. At least one of said rear end surface of the projectile body and said front end surface of the tracer composition sleeve having a substantially disc-shaped recess forming a substantially ring-shaped sealing contact surface between such rear and front end surfaces.

Explosive projectile with projectile body

A base fuze for a spinning projectile comprising a firing pin for piercing a detonator cap, a hammer sleeve secured to the firing pin, a self-destruction spring by means of which the hammer sleeve together with the firing pin can be displaced towards the detonator cap. An inertia body is provided for increasing the response sensitivity and is located behind the hammer sleeve. Upon impact of the projectile the inertia body bears directly at the hammer sleeve in order to increase the mass of the hammer sleeve when piercing the detonator cap by means of the firing pin due to the inertia of such inertia body.
