A method for producing phase-stabilized particulate ammonium nitrate (AN) through integration of a diamine complex of the metals copper, nickel or zinc into the crystal lattice of AN, wherein AN is reacted with inorganic CU, Ni and/or Zn compounds, is characterized in that carbonates and/or hydroxide carbonates and/or hydroxides are added as inorganic compounds of the metals Cu, Ni and/or Zn. Moreover, additives are added to reduce the melting temperature of AN.

Process for producing phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate

A gas generating mixture comprises a high nitrogen and low carbon fuel from he group nitroguanidine (NIGU), tiraminoguanidine nitrate (TAGN), diguanidinium-5,5'-azotetrazolate (GZT) or 3-nitro-l,2,3-triazol-5-one (NTO), as well as copper diammine dinitrate Cu(NH.sub.3).sub.2 (NO.sub.3).sub.2 as the oxidizer and a pyrophoric metal or such a metal alloy on a carrier catalyst.

Gas generating mixture

A gas generating mixture comprises a high nitrogen and low carbon fuel from he group nitroguanidine (NIGU), triaminoguanidine nitrate (TAGN), diguanidinium-5,5'-azotetrazolate (GZT) and 3-nitro-1,2-3-triazol-5-one (NTO), as well as copper diammine dinitrate Cu(NH.sub.3).sub.2 (NO.sub.3).sub.2 as the oxidizer and V.sub.2 O.sub.5 /MoO.sub.3 mixed oxides and/or oxide mixtures as the catalyst.

In a process for producing phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate (AN), a diammine complex of Ni or Cu is incorporated into the AN lattice, in which the diammine complex is produced in a solid-state reaction of AN and metal oxide at 110.degree. to 170.degree. C. and in a proportion of up to 10% is either mixed with further AN and melted, homogenized and subsequently transferred into the solid state, or mixed with further AN is incorporated into the AN lattice at between 80.degree. and 170.degree. C. in a solid-state reaction.

A method of preparing compact nitroguanidine of high bulk density by crystallization from an initially hot nitroguanidine solution. The solution is cooled, while being agitated, at a temperature gradient of at least 3.degree. C./minute, with the crystallization taking place, only at temperatures less than 50.degree. C., from a supersaturated solution. The solvent for the nitroguanidine solution is selected from the group consisting of polyhydric, lower aliphatic alcohols, the mono- or dialkyl ethers of these polyhydric, lower aliphatic alcohols, dimethylformamide, dimethyl sulfoxide, or mixtures thereof. The formed nitroguanidine, in addition to having a high bulk density, has a compact form which makes it possible to prepare a slurry from nitroguanidine and to be able to process nitroguanidine as a composition amenable to casting.

Process for the preparation of compact nitroguanidine

A process for the manufacture of 1,3,5-triaminotrinitrobenzene having a large crystal size by aminating 1,3,5-trichlorotrinitrobenzene with an agent at atmospheric pressure at a temperature of at least about 160.degree. C. with an antioxidant added to the reaction mixture.
