The present disclosure relates to a set of at least 100 single-stranded oligonucleotide probes directed against (or complementary to) portions of a genomic target sequence of interest. The present disclosure also relates to a method of detecting a genomic target sequence of interest using the set of oligonucleotide probes and a method of generating the set of oligonucleotide probes. Further, the present disclosure relates to a kit comprising the set of oligonucleotide probes and at least one further component.

The present disclosure relates to a set of at least 100 single-stranded oligonucleotide probes directed against (or complementary to) portions of a genomic target sequence of interest. The present invention relates to a device for separating a tissue part from brain material, the device comprising a circular blade which continues as the wall of a cylindrical or substantially cylindrical hollow body, at the end of which a grid is arranged perpendicular to the cylinder axis. The invention further relates to the use of the device in a method for separating a tissue part from brain material and to a kit containing one or more devices according to the invention.

Device for cutting out tissue specimens

The invention is directed to a method for performing a high throughput test to determine the presence of PrPsc in a tissue sample taken post mortem from brain, the test comprising the workflow of (A) sample preparation, (B) sample treatment, (C) sample analysis, (D) controls, and (E) classifying the results of the analysis as positive or negative. The invention is further directed to preparing a treated biological sample suspected of containing PrPsc such that it is suitable for specific detection of PrPsc, if present, the method comprising the steps of (a) homogenizing the sample; followed by (b) digesting the sample proteolytically by adding to the homogenate Proteinase K and incubating the sample; followed by (c) adding a peptidic protease inhibitor to the incubated mixture of step (b), thereby obtaining a treated biological sample suitable for specific detection of PrPsc, if present. The invention further provides a conditioned microwell plate. In addition, the invention provides a soluble fusion protein comprising one or more epitopes of prion protein as well as a carrier polypeptide.

High throughput prion assays

The present invention deals with a method of preparing nucleic acids, particularly RNA, from a whole blood sample. The nucleic acids purified by the method of the invention are particularly suited for detection of nucleic acid marker molecules. Preferred are markers for the diagnosis of transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE). Such diagnosis is based on the detection, by means of real-time PCR, of certain mRNAs of the TSE-infected organism. Said mRNAs specifically originate as splicing variants and are isolated from whole blood by the method of the invention.

Nucleic acid preparation from whole blood for use in diagnosis of transmissible spongiform encephalopathy

The present invention provides a process for obtaining .alpha.-2-SB-glycoprotein from physiological solutions thereof by binding to a bindable protein immobilized on an insoluble carrier, wherein the carrier-fixed protein is subsequently washed with a buffer solution of pH 6 to 8.5 and thereafter the .alpha.-2-SB-glycoprotein is eluted with a buffer solution with a pH of 9 or more and isolated from the eluate.
