A mid-wheel drive power wheelchair for use by handicapped and disabled persons is provided having a frame, a seat supported by the frame, a pair of drive wheels supported on the frame under the seat, drive means for causing rotation of the drive wheels, power means for supplying power to the drive means, a rearward idler wheel, a forward anti-tip device and a resilient suspension supporting the forward anti-tip device, the suspension being attached to the drive means rearward of the front portion of the frame.

Curb-climbing power wheelchair

A mid-wheel drive power wheelchair for use by handicapped and disabled persons is provided having a frame, a seat supported by the frame, a pair of drive wheels supported on the frame under the seat, a motor for causing rotation of the drive wheels, a battery for supplying power to the motor, a rearward idler wheel, a forward anti-tip wheel and a resilient suspension supporting the forward anti-tip wheel, the suspension being attached to the frame rearward of the resilient front portion of the frame.

Power wheelchair

An adjustable hinge has a cam structure and a pin engaging one of multiple openings to interact with the cam structure and establish a range of rotation for the arms of the hinge. The range of rotation for the hinge is adaptable depending on which of multiple openings is selected for insertion of the pin. A bracket provides for modification in the location of the hinge with respect to a support member as well as the location of an armrest with respect to the bracket.

A mid-wheel drive power wheelchair is provide having a pair of drive wheels on the support frame below the seat. Castor wheels are positioned behind the drive wheels and rearward of the seat. A pair of anti-tip idler wheels are positioned forward of the drive wheels on opposite sides of the frame. The anti-tip wheels are normally positioned off the ground when the drive wheels and the castor wheels are in their normal ground-engaging position. The anti-tip wheels have a resilient mounting comprising a support arm attached at a rear end to the frame. The forward positioned anti-tip wheels are movable upwardly about the attachment of the support arm, with the suspension resiliently resisting such movement, in response to the engagement with a curb or obstruction or in response to a forward pitching of the chair about the drive wheels.

Mid-wheel drive power wheelchair

An anti-tip suspension for a wheelchair having rear casters is defined. The suspension includes a rocker arm support, a rocker arm and a spring. The rocker arm is pivotally attached to the rocker arm support so that it is rotatable with respect to the rocker arm support. The spring engages the rocker arm and rocker arm support, biasing them away from one another. The rocker arm includes a rotation limiter that limits the rotation of the rocker arm with respect to the rocker arm support in one direction.

Anti-tip caster suspension for a wheelchair

A front wheel drive power wheel chair has the drive wheel axis of rotation forward of the wheelchair user's eyes and cranial center of perception.

A power chair is provided comprising a frame transversely foldable between operating and transport positions. A seat is connected to the frame, with a pair of drive wheels also connected to the frame. The drive wheels are rotatable about a transverse axis below a portion of the seat supporting an occupant's thighs. The power chair further includes motors for driving respective drive wheels. Perspective motor/drive wheel combinations are pivotally connected to the frame. At least one ground-engaging idler wheel is connected to the frame, located rearward of the drive wheels. At least one anti-tip wheel is positioned above ground, forward of the drive wheels, and connected to the frame for movement relative to the frame upon encountering an obstacle.

Foldable midwheel drive power chair

A power wheelchair has a frame, a seat connected to the frame, a pair of drive wheels connected to the frame and rotatable about transverse axis below a portion of the seat supporting the wheelchair occupant's thighs and at least one ground-engaging idler wheel connected to the frame behind the drive wheels.

A curb-climbing front wheel drive power wheelchair has a frame, a seat connected to the frame, a pair of drive wheels connected to the frame and rotatable about a transverse axis below a portion of the seat supporting the wheelchair occupant's thighs. The power wheelchair also has at least one ground-engaging idler wheel connected to the frame behind the drive wheels and anti-tip wheels forward of the drive wheels, rigidly connected to the motors for pivotal movement.

The lift chair has a base frame, an extendable/retractable chair occupant positioning apparatus attached to the base frame, a reversible D.C. motor for extension and retraction of the chair occupant positioning apparatus relative to the base frame. A control means is connected to the D.C. motor for actuation of the chair occupant positioning device. A power supply is connected to the control means for motor control. A chair occupant carriage is supported by the base frame. The carriage has a seat and a back portion.

An electrically-powered scooter vehicle for use by elderly, disabled and infirm people includes a self-locking connection means for connecting front and rear frame portions of the scooter. The scooter is convertible between three-wheel and four-wheel versions without use of tools. Automatic shut-off circuity minimizes inadvertent loss of battery power due to failure to turn off the scooter. An adjustably lockable telescoping tiller facilitates use of the scooter by persons of all sizes.
