An electrically conductive support rack comprising a frame for supporting a plurality of hooks on which workpieces are hung for being transported through a finishing system. A pair of vertical channel beams support a plurality of removable, horizontal crossbars by means of a plurality of support members which are removably mounted to the vertical channel beams. Each support member comprises a resilient wire having an upper hook portion, removably engaging small crossbeams in the vertical channel beams, the wire extending laterally out from the vertical channel beam and then turning downwardly and back into the channel beam to seat resiliently against the top of a second crossbeam of the channel beam. A connector structure, including a brace member, rigidly holds the vertical channel beams transversely to an upper, horizontal crossbar.

Self-masking, easily reconfigurable support rack for finishing systems

A suspended shelf having hangers which support horizontal panels. The shelf hangers have a plurality of horizontal, vertically spaced crossbars each constructed of a U-shaped, downwardly opening channel member having a pair of side panels and a cross web connecting the panels extending between and longitudinally along the panels. A plurality of crossbeams, at least one near each end of each crossbar, extend between the panels and are spaced below the cross web. A plurality of manually removable sidebars extend between the adjacent vertically spaced ends of the crossbars. Each sidebar has a hook-shaped upper end for hanging over an upper one of the crossbeams and a lower, inwardly bent leg which extends along the underside of the cross web and above the crossbeam of a relatively lower crossbar to a downturned tip. Another pair of sidebars extend up from the uppermost crossbars and are fastened to the ceiling or other shelf support. A removable retaining means is inserted between each of the lower legs on the sidebar and its associated crossbeam for extending from the crossbeam to the leg for preventing significant movement of the leg and for interfering with the downturned tip to prevent withdrawal of the leg from the sidebar.

Custom changeable, knockdown shelf

A support rack having a main frame and workpiece support hooks on which workpieces are hung for transporting through a finishing system. The rack has a plurality of horizontal, vertically spaced crossbars each constructed of a U-shaped, downwardly opening channel member having a pair of side panels and a cross web connecting the panels extending between and longitudinally along the panels. A plurality of crossbeams, at least one near each end of each crossbar, extend between the panels and are spaced below the cross web. A plurality of manually removable sidebars extend between the adjacent vertically spaced ends of the crossbars. Each sidebar has a hook-shaped upper end for hanging over an upper one of the crossbeams and a lower, inwardly bent leg which extends along the underside of the cross web and above the crossbeam of a relatively lower crossbar to a downturned tip. A removable retaining means is inserted between each of the lower legs on the sidebar and its associated crossbeam for extending from the crossbeam to the leg for preventing significant movement of the leg and for interfering with the downturned tip to prevent withdrawal of the leg from the sidebar.

Custom changeable hanging rack for finishing system

A support rack or gang hanger on which workpieces are mounted for transporting the workpieces past an electrostatic spray coating station. The rack has an electrically conductive main frame and removable workpiece support hooks which are mechanically and electrically connected to horizontal, shielding crossbars of the main frame. Each shielding crossbar is a downwardly opening channel member which has a plurality of crossbeams extending between the legs of the channel member. These crossbeams are spaced along the length of the channel member and spaced from the cross web of the channel member. A plurality of such channel members are welded at their ends to vertical sidebars in vertically stacked arrangement. A plurality of support hooks, each having a workpiece engaging portion and a crossbar engaging portion extend upwardly into the channel members. The support hooks are bent metal rods each of which extends into engagement with and partially around a different one of the crossbeams between its associated crossbeam and the cross web of the channel member and then extends further into engagement against the cross web. The crossbar engaging portion of each support hook is resiliently flexible and applies oppositely directed resilient forces against the cross web and its associated crossbeam for releasably retaining the hooks in the crossbar under spring tension and conductive contact.

Hanging rack for finishing system

An electrically conductive rack or frame for transporting and supporting workpieces to be coated, and wherein the workpieces are in electrical contact with and supported on readily removable hooks that are electrically connected to and supported on the frame of the rack. The workpiece-supporting hooks are detachably engaged in struck-out, die-stamped sockets formed in the rack. The rack is also provided with die-stamped locking projections which prevent the hooks from becoming accidentally disengaged from the rack. A removable cover further safeguards the electrical connection between the hooks and the rack and prevents an undesired accumulation of coating material on the interconnecting portions of the hooks and rack.
