A scope assembly for use with a projectile firing device including an erect image telescope mounted upon the device. The telescope includes a housing with a series of spaced apart lenses, a reticle display field being disposed along an optical path established within the telescope and which is viewable by a user. A laser range-finding scope is housed within a component in parallel disposed fashion relative to the erect image telescope, the range-finding scope incorporating a microprocessor and timer in operative communication with a pulse generator and an infrared projector. The distance to the target is measured by the laser, pulse detector, and timer. The data is transmitted to the microprocessor which determines the vertical position required to hit the target. The compensated target aimpoint is then illuminated in the reticle display field as a horizontal line.

Infrared range-finding and compensating scope for use with a projectile firing device

A method and system for discriminating motor vehicle crashes to actuate a safety restraint (10) utilizes an optical vehicle occupant position detector (12) to generate data (22) representative of the position of an occupant relative to fixed structure within the vehicle. The data (22) is subsequently used by a signal processor/discrimination unit (26) as criteria for a parameter based crash discrimination analysis, and for adjusting parameters of the discrimination analysis, such as changing the discrimination threshold values. The occupant position data optimizes the discrimination analysis used in the system (10) due to the system's ability to customize the discrimination analysis in real time to match actual conditions of a vehicle occupant. Occupant position is determined by detecting the relative intensity, or average of scattering angles of a light beam (34) reflectively scattered by the occupant (24). An optical, low threshold safing sensor (40) can further be used to provide system calibration, discrimination of spurious occupant movement, and data representative of vehicle acceleration.

Adjustable crash discrimination system with occupant position detection

An electronic matrix system and method for rapidly storing and efficiently retaining electric charge in selected ones of a plurality of storage elements are disclosed. Each storage element is addressable through a pair of parallel row select address lines and a column address line. A pair of threshold devices are coupled in nonopposing relation between the row select address lines and the storage element is coupled between the common node of the threshold devices and the column address line to which charging potential is applied. During the charging of the storage element, operating potentials which are substantially equal and opposite in polarity are applied to the row select line pair to forward bias both threshold devices and thereafter operating potentials which are also substantially equal and opposite in polarity are applied to the row select line pair to back bias both threshold devices to provide retention of the charge in the storage element.

Balanced drive electronic matrix system and method of operating the same

A dynamic memory array includes plural sets of spaced apart address lines and storage locations defined by cross-overs of members of the plural sets of address lines. At each storage location a charge storage means is coupled to a threshold means. The charge storage means are addressable through the threshold means by the application of selected potentials to the plural sets of address lines. The charge storage means and the threshold means can be formed as vertically arrayed, deposited, layers of semiconductor materials, and preferably from amorphous semiconductor alloys. Also disclosed is a light influencing display having an improved bidirectional threshold isolation means.

Liquid crystal display having potential source in a diode ring

A light influencing display is provided which has a plurality of pixel group, each pixel of which includes a first electrode formed on a first surface and an opposing, second electrode formed on a second surface. A separate three terminal control device of deposited semiconductor material is formed on the first surface in association with each pixel. Each control device has a control terminal and two current path terminals, a first of which is connected to the first electrode of the control device's associated pixel. A voltage supply lead is formed on the first surface in association with each pixel group, and is connected to the second current path terminals associated with its pixel group. Similarly, a control lead is formed on the first surface in association with each pixel group, and is connected to the control terminals associated with its pixel group. A plurality of conductive data leads is formed on the second surface, with a data lead being electrically connected to each second electrode of a given pixel group. As a result, a desired voltage can be applied between the electrodes of a given pixel by using a selected control lead to turn on the control devices of that pixel's pixel group, and by using a selected data lead to supply a data voltage to its second electrode. The present invention allows x - y addressing of an active matrix display without crossing address lines on either the first or second surface, avoiding the risk of short circuits between such lines. It also allows the voltage supply and control leads associated with adjacent pixel groups to be combined, greatly reducing the number of lines required in such a display.

An apparatus for displaying in real-time a previously recorded video sequence includes a main memory wherein digitized video gray-scale information is stored for selected non-interlaced fields of video images to be displayed. The memory unit is formed of interconnected substrates. Each substrate is a ROM which includes storage elements and a layer of amorphous silicon alloy which forms an array of diode isolation elements. Column select and read-out circuitry as well as row select circuitry for each of the substrates are formed, on each corresponding substrate, utilizing the same amorphous silicon alloy. Digitized fields of presorted information are read out and stored in pairs in an interpolator circuit which is used to form interlaced fields to be displayed timewise between the digitally stored fields. The digitized fields are converted by a digital-to-analog converter and added to sync signals to form a composite analog video signal adapted to drive a raster scan display unit. Audio information is also stored in the main memory as sampled digital information with two samples per raster scan line. The audio is decoded through audio decoder circuitry and converted to an analog signal in a digital-to-analog converter. The analog and video output may be combined together in a radio frequency modulator to produce a standard transmittable television broadcast signal.

Digital integrated electronic storage system for video and audio playback

An apparatus and method for exposing a film of radiation sensitive material overlying a substrate to a pattern of radiation utilizes proximity focusing of a mask pattern onto the film and step and repeat techniques for exposing the entire area of the film to be exposed. The apparatus includes a source of radiation, a substrate holder supporting the substrate with the film of radiation sensitive material thereon in the path of the radiation, and a mask holder for supporting the mask intermediate the radiation source and the film in close proximity thereto for proximity focusing the mask pattern onto the film. A stepping means incrementally moves the mask relative to the substrate to permit exposure of the film area.
