A tamper-resistant text stream watermarking system is provided. Content such as any text-based document including programming code is encoded with a watermarking mechanism. The mechanism modifies the text itself according to a preset repeating pattern without changing the substance. Examples include patterned use of white spaces, contractions, abbreviations, order of local variables in programming code, and the like. The pattern may include a binary fingerprint that can be used to trace the watermarked document to an assigned source or version of the original document. In analyzing a suspect text stream, patterns are generated based on instances of the mechanism and their corresponding bit values. Repeating patterns are combined into a bit stream along with separators between each pattern. The bit stream can then be analyzed to determine a source of the watermarked text stream.

Tamper-resistant text stream watermarking

Embodiments are described for blocking the opening of a file. Some embodiments include receiving a request to open a file. In response, a portion of the file's data is examined to determine a true file format for the file. A determination is then made as to whether the true file format of the file has been set as blocked. Based on the determination that the file format is blocked from opening, the file is prevented from being loaded into memory and from being accessed. A message is then displayed to a user indicating that the file has been blocked from opening.

File blocking mitigation

A method and system are provided for filtering harmful HTML content from an electronic document. An application program interface (API) examines the fundamental structure of the HTML content in the document. The HTML content in the electronic document is parsed into HTML elements and attributes by a tokenizer and compared to a content library by a filter in the API. The filter removes unknown HTML content as well as known content that is listed as harmful in the content library. After the harmful HTML content has removed, a new document is encoded which includes the remaining safe HTML content for viewing in a web browser.

Method, system, and computer-readable medium for filtering harmful HTML in an electronic document

A method and computer-readable medium are provided for selectively importing and exporting data in an electronic document. An import application program interface (API) may be implemented to import content from a hierarchically structured document, such an XML file. The import API works in conjunction with a parser to scan the document and extract content from selected elements, nodes, attributes, and text. The import API also utilizes a callback component for processing the extracted content. An export API may also be implemented to export data to create a hierarchically structured document, such as an XML file. The export API works in conjunction with a writer to receive data and export the data as elements, nodes, attributes, and text in the hierarchically structured document.
