Disclosed is the use of inhibitors of &#x3b2;-catenin expression or activity or modulators downregulating &#x3b2;-catenin expression or activity for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases or disorders and their use in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases and disorders, such as heart failure syndrome. The use of those agents resulted in particular in cardiomyocyte differentiation of endogenous cardiac stem cells.

Remedy for the treatment of cardio-vascular diseases or disorders

The present invention relates to small molecule protein tyrosine phosphatase inhibitors, especially Shp-2 inhibitors, of formula (I) and/or (II), and to pharmaceutical compositions comprising them. The invention is also directed to the use of said compounds for the treatment of phosphatase-mediated diseases, especially cancer and metastasis. The invention further concerns a method for treating a proliferative disease, a genetic disorder, an autoimmune disease, an angiogenic disorder or cancer in a patient in need of such treatment, comprising administering to said patient a therapeutically effective amount of at least one compound of formula (I) and/or (II).

The invention relates to a new method for combating tumor illnesses through the use of molecular biological associations during formation of the tumor. The aim of the invention is to develop a method for controlling the regulation of &#x3b2;-catenine in body cells. The object of the invention is a new protein which bonds to &#x3b2;-catenine and the subsequent cytoplasmic decomposition of said protein. This protein has the amino-acid sequence according to FIG.and is designated as conductine. Agents for diagnosing and treating tumor illnesses are developed from the occurrence and the action of conductine in body cells.

Conductin protein and a related agent for diagnosing and treating tumor illnesses

The present invention relates to peptides that affect the interaction of the protein &#x3b2;-catenin with a transcription factor or a tumor suppressor protein. Such peptides are derived either from the amino acids of &#x3b2;-catenin that are known to interact with such proteins, or from the amino acids of the transcription factor or tumor suppressor protein that are known to interact with &#x3b2;-catenin. The effect of the interaction is preferably inhibition of binding of &#x3b2;-catenin and the transcription factor or tumor suppressor protein. Peptide mutants and peptidomimetic compounds are also contemplated in the invention. The peptides, mutands and peptidomimetic compounds of the invention are useful for treating cancer in mammals, and particularly in humans.
