In order to create a solid-bow centrifuge for mechanical drainage and thermal drying of sludges, in which the possibility of clumping or of bake-on of the finely dispersed thick matter spun off from the thick matter outlet openings is minimized or prevented, according to the invention it is proposed to provide in the flight path of the spun off thick matter, a baffle cone surrounding the thick matter outlet openings at a distance and which rotates at a high circumferential velocity, that is, preferably it rotates together with the basket shell, and whose inner, ring-shaped, rotating conical surface accelerates the arriving thick matter and prevents solids bake-on.

The computer control system actuates at least one of a plurality of control devices based on input from one or more monitoring sensors so as to provide real time, continuous, operational control of certain parameters. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus comprises a basket centrifuge with at least one sensor for providing input which is analyzed to provide information regarding cake moisture at a given time. As a result of the analysis, at least one output may be generated to activate a control device that effects changes or adjustments in the operation of the centrifuge.

Method and apparatus for controlling vertical and horizontal basket

A computerized (e.g. intelligent) downhole oil/water separation system. A hydrocyclone separator is used downhole to separate oil from water. Downhole sensors monitor parameters associated with the oil/water separation and provide signals representing the parameters to a controller. The controller controls operation of the system by generating control signals and providing the control signals to one or more control devices. The oil/water separation is optimized and well profitability is enhanced.

Apparatus for controlling and monitoring a downhole oil/water separator

In a continuous-feed filtering- or screening-type centrifuge, first dewatering a particulate material, then reslurrying the particulate material, and subsequently again dewatering the particulate material in a sequence along a cake flow path extending through the continuous-feed filtering- or screening-type centrifuge. The first dewatering, the reslurrying and the subsequent dewatering are performed in respective compartments disposed along the cake flow path. The compartments are defined in part by a plurality of gates, baffles, or weirs extending outwardly from a hub of the centrifuge. Outer ends of the gates are spaced from a bowl wall to define respective cake flow gaps which limit the thickness of a cake layer moving along the cake flow path.

Continuous-feed filtering- or screening-type centrifuge with reslurrying

Centrifuges having a rotating bowl and associated computerized systems for monitoring, diagnosing, operating and controlling various parameters and processes of the centrifuges are presented. The computerized control system actuates at least one out of a plurality of control devices based on input from one or more monitoring sensors so as to provide real time continuous operational control. The monitoring sensors may sense process and other parameters and may be located both inside the centrifuge or bowl and outside the centrifuge or bowl and may monitor machine operation parameters and parameters related to the input and output streams of the centrifuge.

A feed accelerator system for use in a centrifuge, the system comprising a conveyor hub rotatably mounted within a rotating bowl, the hub including an inside surface and an outside surface. At least one feed slurry passageway is disposed between the inside surface of conveyor hub and the outside surface of the conveyor hub, and at least one helical blade having a plurality of turns is mounted to the outside surface of the conveyor hub. A vane apparatus is associated with the passageway and is disposed between two adjacent turns of the helical blade. The vane apparatus may include an inwardly extending baffle and/or an outwardly extending accelerator vane. Alternatively, a U-shaped channel may be associated with the passageway, the U-shaped channel including a plurality partitions attached to the discharge end of such channel so as to form a plurality of discharge channels and a flow directing and overspeeding vane disposed within each channel, each vane having a different forward discharge angle.
