An algorithm calculates a correction value to be applied to a slot in an adjustment period for power correction. The adjustment period is divided into segments having a plurality of slots, and a target power value is determined for each segment. For each slot, the algorithm determines whether adding a correction value in a given slot would bring the actual accumulative adjustment value closer or farther from the target power value for the segment corresponding to the given slot. The correction value is added to consecutive slots in the segment. The algorithm also checks the total amount of adjustment applied to the slots over a sliding adjustment window to make sure that the total amount of adjustment applied to the slots in the window do not exceed a predetermined maximum threshold.

Hybrid method for adjusting downlink transmitted power

An algorithm calculates a correction value to be applied to a slot in an adjustment period for power correction. For each slot, the algorithm determines whether adding a correction value in a given slot would bring the actual accumulative adjustment value closer or farther from a total desired power correction value for the adjustment period. In one embodiment, the correction value is added to consecutive slots in the adjustment period to conduct the correction as fast as possible. The algorithm also checks the total amount of adjustment applied to the slots over a sliding adjustment window within the adjustment period to make sure that the total amount of adjustment applied to the slots in the adjustment window do not exceed a predetermined maximum threshold.

Fast method for adjusting downlink transmitted power

An algorithm calculates a correction value to be applied to a slot in an adjustment period for power correction. The accumulative adjustment target value has a linear relationship with the slot number and is calculated for each slot to ensure that any corrections are evenly distributed over the adjustment period for a smooth correction. In one embodiment, the algorithm also checks the total amount of adjustment applied to the slots over a sliding adjustment window to make sure that the total amount of adjustment applied to the slots in the adjustment window do not exceed a predetermined maximum threshold.

Smooth method for adjusting downlink transmitted power

A simplified method for frequency offset estimation in a TDMA cellular PCS environment using &pgr;/4-shifted DQPSK comprises the steps of multiplying a complex conjugate of a received complex-valued symbol and a succeeding symbol to produce a comparison vector having an angle equal to the phase angle between the received complex-valued symbol and the succeeding symbol, rotating the comparison vector so that the angle thereof is between 0&deg; and 90&deg;, and estimating the frequency offset by determining a constant deviation of the phase angle from an ideal phase angle value of 45&deg; by calculating an average phase angle for a plurality of successive comparison vectors or correlating the rotated comparision vector against a bank of unit vectors to determine a maximum correlation.
