An apparatus for supply of coolant, particularly COthat is preferably provided in bottles, to cryosurgical instruments. The device may be a mechanical or thermal compression device. A pump may supply the COtaken from the bottle in a buffer container with a desired operation pressure. The pressure in the gas bottle can be less than the desired operation pressure. The apparatus includes a tempering device that is configured to bring the coolant to a desired temperature, particularly a temperature that is higher than the temperature in the gas bottle or in another storage container.

Apparatus and method for supplying coolant to a medical instrument

An instrument head including an exit opening (), a first feed line () for feeding a first fluid, a second feed line () for feeding a second fluid, and a reservoir () for storing the second fluid fed via the second feed line () is disclosed. The pump unit () has a particularly simple design, which includes just two housing parts () and also four valve closure members () and pump pistons (). The valve closure members () are preferably identical to one another and are trapped in a pocket between both housing parts (). The housing parts () are preferably permanently interconnected by an ultrasonic weld seam. The valve closure members are formed by disc-like or plate-like plastic parts, which are resilient per se and which may optionally have a central pin () as an assembly and orientation aid. As desired, the valve closure members bear against their respective valve seat () with or without bias and form valves which open and close particularly reliably, are responsive to the slowest flow velocities and can be easily sterilized.
