A device and method for extracorporeal blood treatment, in particular for hemodialysis, and a method for the balance control of a dialysis fluid in an extracorporeal blood treatment. Sodium balancing can be implemented with improved accuracy during the blood treatment, because distorting effects in the conductivity measurement of the used dialysis fluid can be corrected by taking into account the loading of the used dialysis fluid with urophanic substances, which loading is sensed by an additional measuring apparatus.

Device and method for extracorporeal blood treatment and method for the balance control of a dialysis liquid in an extracorporeal blood treatment

A device and method that can be used to produce dialysis liquid for extracorporeal blood treatment. The device includes a main line for supplying water. An acidic and a basic fluid are introduced in specific dosages. The dosages are set by a control and regulation unit as a function of a chemical and/or physical parameter of the water/fluid mixture. The chemical and/or physical parameter is detected by a measuring device arranged at a section of the main conduit situated downstream of the introduction points for the acidic fluid and for the basic fluid. The control and regulation unit controls introduction of the acidic fluid and basic fluid so that only one of the acid and basic fluids is introduced into the main conduit over a predetermined period or a predetermined interval. Delivery and introduction of the basic fluid and acidic fluid take place alternately.

Method and device for intermittent, pulsating proportioning of a dialysis liquid mixture

An extracorporeal blood line set for a blood treatment machine or as part of a blood treatment machine, especially a dialysis machine. The extracorporeal blood line set includes an arterial blood line having a distal patient access and a proximal device port, preferably a dialyzer port, a venous blood line having a distal patient access and a proximal device port, preferably a dialyzer port, and at least one fluid supply line which is connected to the arterial and/or venous blood line(s) in at least one port section of the arterial and/or venous blood line(s) and at one end includes a container port or a fluid container. A device for determining a dialysis efficiency/dialysis dose of an extracorporeal blood treatment process has a radiation source, a cuvette, a detection unit and a control unit. The radiation source emits radiation, the intensity of which is controlled by adjusting a current intensity applied to the radiation source. The cuvette is preferably provided with an inlet and outlet, and is penetrated by radiation emitted by the radiation source. The detection unit detects the intensity of the radiation after the radiation passes the cuvette. The control unit determines the dialysis efficiency/dialysis dose from the intensity detected by the detection unit. The control unit, which is connected to the radiation source and detection unit, reduces the intensity of the radiation by adjusting the current intensity during the extracorporeal blood treatment process at least once, based on a drop in concentration of substances excreted in the urine in the dialysis fluid.

An apparatus for measuring recirculation using thermodilution during extracorporeal blood treatment including a temperature varying unit arranged to cyclically heat and/or cool blood in a venous tube segment of the blood tube system for a quasi-continuous recirculation measurement; and a detecting device configured to measure a variation of a physical parameter resulting from the heating and/or cooling. The detecting device is arranged to detect, in a case free from recirculation, a first physical parameter and to detect, in a case afflicted with recirculation, a physical parameter varied by the cooling and/or heating of the blood by the temperature varying unit as a second physical parameter in the blood tube system. A method for measuring recirculation carries out appropriate steps.

An apparatus and a method for extracorporeal blood treatment, especially for hemodialysis, wherein blood of a patient is flushed with a dialysate in a dialyzer and wherein a variable correlated with the plasma sodium concentration of the blood is measured. The composition of the dialysate then is adjusted in response to the variable measured so that the plasma sodium concentration of the blood at least at the end of the blood treatment has the same value as at the beginning. For measuring the variable correlated with the plasma sodium concentration of the blood, for example a bypass operation can be implemented in which the dialysate is guided past the dialyzer so that a residual volume on the side of the used dialysate at least partially adopts the concentration of the substances dissolved on the blood side.

In a multi-sensor device for a medical apparatus at least one first sensor unit and at least one second sensor unit are arranged at a fluid-guiding line connection along which the sensor units detect at least one variable from a flowing fluid in predetermined proximity to each other in such manner that predetermined signal portions occur and are detectable practically simultaneously in outputs of each of the first and second sensor units. In a method for defining a proximity in said multi-sensor device, positions of the individual sensors are varied in the multi-sensor device and the occurrence of predetermined signal portions is detected in at least two signals detected by the individual sensors, and those positions at which the predetermined signal portions occur practically simultaneously are defined as positions of the proximity.
