A hydraulically driven diaphragm pump with a diaphragm clamped at its edge between a pump body and a pump cover separating a delivery chamber from a hydraulic chamber and pretensioned in the direction of its intake stroke by spring force. A hydraulic diaphragm drive in the form of an oscillating displacement piston is displaceable in the pump body between a reservoir chamber for the hydraulic fluid and the hydraulic chamber. The diaphragm is so strongly pretensioned by spring force that it exerts a substantial compressive force on the hydraulic fluid in the hydraulic chamber. Therefore a substantial hydrostatic pressure is built up in the hydraulic chamber relative to the delivery chamber.

For a hydraulically driven diaphragm pump with a diaphragm consisting of at least two individual layers, these layers are clamped at least in their central area between a coupling part on the feed area side and the hydraulics area side and are thus mechanically linked with one another. The coupling parts are also connected with a relay valve of a leak replenishment system which is attached in the pump body in a moveable manner.

On a hydraulic diaphragm pump with a diaphragm including at least two individual layers, a dimensionally stable reinforcing element that moves together with the diaphragm and is kept in contact with the diaphragm is provided in the central area of the diaphragm. The inlet and outlet channels of the diaphragm pump open into the delivery chamber radially within the reinforcing element at least for the most part so the channels are covered accordingly by the reinforcing element.

In a diaphragm 1 for an hydraulically driven diaphragm pump provided with a device 22 for the indication of a diaphragm rupture wherein the diaphragm 1 is clamped at the margin between the pump housing 2 and pump cover 3 and comprises at least two individual layers 20, 21 between which a diaphragm interspace 19 is formed which is connected with the indicator device 22, the implementation is selected so that the individual diaphragm layers 20, 21 for the purely mechanical coupling during the pressure stroke as well as during the intake stroke are connected through a multiplicity of connecting areas 27 or 30 with the formation of interspaced free areas or free spaces.

In a diaphragm pump with mechanically driven diaphragm and a device for diaphragm rutpure signaling, wherein the diaphragm 2 is clamped at the edge between a pump body 3 and pump cover 4 and is centrally firmly connected with a support plate 5 serving to drive the diaphragm, the design is such that the diaphragm is formed as a multi-layer sandwich diaphragm 2, whose individual layers or diaphragm plies are clamped jointly in the edge region between pump body 3 and pump cover 4. The sandwich diaphragm 2 consists of a working diaphragm 18 with at least one diaphragm ply and a protective diaphragm 20 also with at least one diaphragm ply. The latter is formed so that, with the working diaphragm 18 intact, it is clearly stressed by the delivery pressure less than the working diaphragm 18. Lastly the device for diaphragm rupture signaling has at least one channel 22, 25 disposed between the diaphragms 18, 20 and brought to the outside, for signaling a rupture of the working diaphragm 18.
