Apparatus and corresponding method are invented for detecting indoor liquid leak in equipment, such as a pump in a pump station. The apparatus includes an image analyzer configured to receive video from one or more cameras and analyze the video to determine if a leak on the equipment is present by comparing the video with a reference and a target color and the image analyzer having an output port for delivering a notification upon the image analyzer determining that a leak is present on the equipment. If a leak alarm happens, the operator can check the remote live video and/or stored clips to confirm the leak and activate a response to stop it.

Video based indoor leak detection

An object detection apparatus comprising a camera having video output comprising frames; and a digital video processor configured to receive the video output from the camera, detect and track a blob in the frames to determine a trajectory for the blob and trigger an alert message if the trajectory of the blob is characteristic of an object to be detected. The digital video processor may detect and classify the object as a leak, and provide an alert or alarm. The digital video processor may detect and classify the object as a bird, and provide a bird report. A weather station may be combined with the digital video processor to receive input from the weather station and take the input from the weather station into account in determining whether to trigger an alert.

Object detection

Apparatus and corresponding method are invented for detecting a leak in equipment forming a target, such as a stuffing box. The apparatus includes an image analyzer configured to receive an image from camera and analyze the image to determine if a leak on the equipment is present by comparing a color channel of the image with a reference and the image analyzer having an output port for delivering a notification upon the image analyzer determining that a leak is present on the equipment.

Leak detection

A system for detecting a class of objects at a location, for example humans on a conveyor belt. A thermal camera may be used to detect objects and to detect the variance of the heat distribution of objects to classify them. Objects detected in an image from one camera may be detected in an image from another camera using geometric correction. A color camera may be used to detect the number of edges and the number of colors of an object to classify it. A color camera may be used with an upright human body classifier to detect humans in an area, and blobs corresponding to the detected humans may be tracked in a thermal or color camera image to detect if a human enters an adjacent forbidden area such as a conveyor belt.

Apparatus for detecting humans on conveyor belts using one or more imaging devices

There is disclosed a quick and efficient method for analyzing a segment of video, the segment of video having a plurality of frames. A reference portion is acquired from a reference frame of the plurality of frames. Plural subsequent portions are then acquired from a corresponding subsequent frame of the plurality of frames. Each subsequent portion is then compared with the reference portion, and an event is detected based upon each comparison. There is also disclosed a method of optimizing video including selectively storing, labeling, or viewing video based on the occurrence of events in the video. Furthermore, there is disclosed a method for creating a video summary of video which allows a used to scroll through and access selected parts of a video. The methods disclosed also provide advancements in the field of video surveillance analysis.

Analyzing a segment of video

A data structure and method of use thereof for encoding video information are described. Macroblock parameters are initialized, and it is determined whether an operating point is selected. If the operating point is selected, then the following occurs: each quad of nodes of a first node level are obtained and a check for merger is done on them; each quad of nodes of a second node level is obtained and a check for merger is done on them; nodes of a third node level are obtained and check for merger is done on them; nodes of a fourth node level are obtained and a check for merger is done on them; and modes are assigned responsive to cost of combinations of encoding modes associated with possible mergers.

Data structure and method using same for encoding video information

A method for determining the presence and location of static shadows and other ambient conditions (such as glare, snow, rain, etc.) in a series of time-successive images is provided. Each image comprises a series of image elements locatable on a plane, with each element being associated with a color defined by three chromatic elements. Furthermore, each image is partitioned into a set of elements, with each element comprising one or more pixels. According to the process of the present method, the ambient conditions are detected using a mixture of processes which utilize the chromatic elements, luminance qualities and temporal characteristics of the series of images.

Detection of environmental conditions in a sequence of images

A method of processing sequential frames of data comprises repeating the following steps for successive frames of data: acquiring at least a reference frame containing data points and a current frame of data points; identifying a set of anchor points in the reference frame; assigning to each anchor point in the reference frame a respective motion vector that estimates the location of the anchor point in the current frame; defining polygons formed of anchor points in the reference frame, each polygon containing data points in the reference frame, each polygon and each data point contained within the polygon having a predicted location in the current frame based on the motion vectors assigned to anchor points in the polygon; for one or more polygons in the reference frame, adjusting the number of anchor points in the reference frame based on accuracy of the predicted locations of data points in the current frame; and if the number of anchor points is increased by addition of new anchor points, then assigning motion vectors to the new anchor points that estimate the location of the anchor points in the current frame.
