A thread-wrapping device for a percussion mallet is disclosed. The thread-wrapping device includes a frame, a spindle, and a wrapping arm. The spindle is designed to retain the percussion mallet and is rotatably supported by the frame. The wrapping arm is supported by the frame and designed to rotate when the spindle rotates to wrap thread around a head of the percussion mallet. Further, a hand crank is provided to rotate the spindle and wrapping arm.

An apparatus and method for applying an EDT texture to an aluminum sheet has a rolling stand with at least one EDT surfaced roll capable of rolling the sheet at reductions &#x3c;1%. The rolling is conducted with residual or no lubrication and imparts a texture on the scale of about 1 &#x3bc;m to the surface of the sheet at low roll force.

A system and method that includes, in an embodiment, a prism, a camera, a light source, and a plate. The system, in an embodiment, is configured for scanning a roll and generating an image of the roll surface. The prism, in an embodiment, is positioned below the camera and above the plate. In an embodiment, the plate is positioned below the prism and above the roll surface. In an embodiment, the light source is positioned above the prism. In an embodiment, the light source and the prism are positioned to provide light to the roll surface at an angle of at least 75 degrees measured from a line normal to the roll surface. A clamping device for grasping and suspending a workpiece is disclosed. The clamping device comprises a clamp body, the clamp body comprises at least one slotted arcuate spring end portion; an intermediate spring spreading portion contiguous with and extending from the slotted arcuate spring end portion, the intermediate spring spreading portion having an eccentric bore; a jaw end portion contiguous with and extending from the intermediate spring spreading portion, the jaw end portion comprising a jaw clamping surface, and a bracket, the bracket having a beveled sidewall; wherein the jaw clamping surface and the bracket define a jaw opening; and a suspending means attached to the intermediate spring spreading portion; an eccentric wedge slideably mounted in the bracket; and an eccentric cam rotatably disposed within the eccentric bore.

Clamping device and method for grasping a workpiece

A method and apparatus for measuring chatter marks on a metal workpiece. The method includes first removing gross buckle or curvature in the workpiece by clamping the same in the device having an elongated jaws and in a manner that locates a portion of the workpiece outside of the jaws so that an elongated portion of the workpiece is available for inspection by capacitive sensors. The sensors are located adjacent at least one surface of the elongated portion of the workpiece, the sensor and workpiece forming an electrical capacitor when appropriate potentials are applied to the sensor and workpiece. The sensors are now moved along the surface in the elongated direction of the workpiece to detect chatter marks on the surface.
