The present invention provides a system for thermal remediation and/or the processing of a feed materials like contaminated materials, waste polymeric materials, waste paper products, waste wood and biomass. The system comprises at least one thermal screw conveyor provided in a housing under pressure, a first plug screw conveyor in a housing in communication with an inlet of thermal screw conveyor housing and a second plug screw conveyor in a housing in communication with an outlet of thermal screw conveyor housing. The thermal housing is configured to heat the feed material to form one or more vaporized products and a solid residue, wherein one or more vaporized products are removed through the one or more vapor ports provided in the pressure housing, and the solid residue is discharged from an outlet of the second seal-housing.

Thermal remediation system and process

A method and system for de-oiling a feed comprising oil and water. The feed has an input temperature above the boiling point of water and an input pressure sufficient to maintain the water in a liquid state. In at least one embodiment, the method comprises pumping the feed with a motive pump through a phase separator having a restriction to effect a phase separation of oil and water in the feed and produce an agitated mixture, supplying the agitated mixture from the phase separator into a pressure vessel operating at a pressure sufficient to maintain in a liquid state water that is at a temperature above the boiling point of water, removing an oil phase from the pressure vessel, and removing a water phase from the pressure vessel.

Method and system for de-oiling a feed of oil and water

A method of fluid treatment of a feed comprising oil and water, the method comprising: supplying the feed into a flotation cell, the feed having an oil concentration, the flotation cell containing a working fluid and the working fluid having a surface; removing an oil phase from the surface of the working fluid; removing fluid from the flotation cell through one or more outlets below a working fluid level in the flotation cell; and controlling flow through the one or more outlets to maintain the working fluid level in the flotation cell within a predetermined range independent of variations in the oil concentration of the feed. A related apparatus is also disclosed.

Method and apparatus for treatment of fluids

A method of treating tailings comprising a solids fraction and a hydrocarbon fraction is disclosed. A primary flow is supplied to a jet pump, the primary flow comprising water and less than 20% solids by mass. A secondary flow is supplied to a mixing chamber of the jet pump, the secondary flow comprising a slurry of water and tailings, the slurry comprising more solids by mass than the primary flow. The jet pump is operated using the primary flow such that the tailings are agitated to effect at least a partial phase separation of the hydrocarbon fraction from the tailings. The methods disclosed herein may also be applied to treat tailings ponds.

Recovery of tailings ponds

A process for the separation of bitumen oil from tar sands and the like. Slurry is supplied to a mixing chamber of a jet pump at an input end of the process. The slurry is agitated within the jet pump to effect a partial to full phase separation of the oil fraction from the solids fraction of the slurry. The partially to fully separated slurry is discharged into a pipeline and later into a hydrocyclone to effect a second phase separation of the slurry. One or more hydrocyclone separators may be used to separate the bitumen oil and liquid from the solids fraction.

Separation and recovery of bitumen oil from tar sands

A process for the separation of oil from invert mud drill cuttings. Invert mud drill cuttings are supplied to a mixing chamber of a jet pump. The invert mud drill cuttings are agitated within the jet pump to effect transformation of the solids-oil matrix of the invert mud drill cuttings. Oil is then separeated from the transformed solids-oil matrix in a separator.

A process for separating oily films from sand particles carried in a solvent free water stream includes the use of a jet pump scrubber in a density classification tank to treat such oily coated particles at controlled operating temperatures above 65&deg; C. whereby, at such controlled temperature, enhanced cavitation in the jet pump separates the oily film from the sand particles to form slop oil, the tank providing for recirculation of the particles through the jet pump before discharge.
