A mechanical service tool that may include one or more anchors, a cutter, a communication and control system, and one or more sensors, as well as methods for operating the mechanical service tool, are provided. The one or more anchors may extend radially from the mechanical service tool and the cutter may move relative to the mechanical service tool. The cutter may include a drilling bit. The communication and control system may obtain remote commands that control the cutter, the one or more anchors, or both. The one or more sensors may detect operational conditions of the mechanical service tool and may be operatively coupled to the communication and control system.

Systems and methods for downhole service tools

A service tool that may be inserted into a tubular, the service tool includes an anchoring system. The anchoring system includes a body having a first end, a second end, and an opening extending along a portion of the body between the first end and the second end and a gripping assembly housed within and coupled to the body. The gripping assembly may anchor at least a portion of the service tool to the tubular, and the gripping assembly includes a plurality of anchor arms disposed within the opening and that may move relative to the body. The anchoring system also includes an actuator disposed within a central bore of the body and coupled to the gripping assembly. The actuator may apply a first axial input force in a first direction and a second axial input force in a second direction opposite the first direction to the gripping assembly, At least a portion of the gripping assembly translocates relative to the body in the first direction in response to the first axial input force to position the plurality of anchor arms in a radially expanded anchoring configuration, and the portion of the gripping assembly translocates relative to the body in the second direction in response to the second axial input force to position the plurality of anchor arms in a radially contracted configuration.

Systems and methods for manipulating wellbore completion products

A system is provided that is conducive to multi-stage stimulation in a near-continuous fashion. That is, unlike conventional stimulation systems, embodiments herein may operate without the requirement of traditional plug-setting, perforating and fracturing interventions on a zone by zone basis for a cemented completion. Rather, the system is outfitted with frac sleeves that may be shifted open to expose the bore to the formation while simultaneously achieving a seal through a ball drop technique. Once more, this manner of operation is rendered practical by the sleeve being of a passable configuration such that cementing of the casing is not impeded.

A downhole tractor is provided that includes a motor, at least one rotatable screw powered by the motor, and a chain engageable with the at least one rotatable screw, whereby rotation of the at least one rotatable screw moves the chain.

Chain drive system

A borehole caliper tool includes a tool body and an arm coupled to the tool body. The arm is deflectable relative to the tool body. The caliper tool further includes a cam coupled to the arm such that a position of the cam changes as the arm deflects. The caliper tool further includes a proximity sensor for sensing the position of the cam, wherein the position of the cam provides an indication of the deflection of the arm relative to the tool body.

An articulated connector for providing electrical insulation between downhole well equipment such as logging sondes suspended by a wireline. Articulated joints are connected to the well equipment to provide for the desired movement, and the joints are connected by a central housing. The housing is configured so that a nonconductive element interrupts electrical conductivity through metallic components of the housing. The housing uniquely combines with the articulated joints to provide an articulated connection between the well equipment while providing electrical insulation therebetween.

A magnetic coupling for substantially synchronously transferring linear motion through a non magnetic barrier from a first movable element to a second movable element. The coupling comprises magnets disposed at spaced apart locations along the first element. The magnets each have a magnetization direction substantially perpendicular to a direction of motion of the first element along the non magnetic barrier. The coupling includes magnets disposed at spaced apart locations along the second element at locations corresponding to locations of the magnets op the first element. Each of the magnets on the second element has a magnetization direction inclined at an oblique angle with respect to the magnetization direction of the corresponding magnet so as to capture magnetic flux from the magnets on the first element when either of the elements is moved along the barrier.
