An ejection chip is disclosed, and comprises a substrate, a flow feature layer, a nozzle plate, and one or more valves. The substrate includes one or more fluid channels and one or more fluid ports each in communication with at least one of the one or more fluid channels. The flow feature layer is disposed over the substrate, and the flow feature layer include one or more flow features each in communication with at least one of the one or more fluid ports. The nozzle layer is disposed over the flow feature layer, and the nozzle layer includes one or more nozzles each in communication with at least one of the one or more flow features so that one or more fluid paths are defined by the one or more fluid channels, the one or more fluid ports, the one or more flow features, and the one or more nozzles. The one or more valves selectively impede flow of fluid through the one or more fluid paths.

A printer including an ink supply, a printhead cartridge, at least one fluid connection between the printhead cartridge and the ink supply, the printhead cartridge having a first configuration in which the fluid connection is coupled and the printhead cartridge is in electrical contact with other components of the printer and a second configuration in which the fluid connection is decoupled and the printhead cartridge is out of electrical contact with the other components of the printer, a cover latch having an open configuration and a closed configuration, and at least one moveable ejector arm that is mechanically linked to the cover latch so that the at least one ejector arm engages the printhead cartridge and forces the printhead cartridge towards the second configuration as the cover latch is moved towards the open configuration.

Fluid ejection device

An ejection chip is disclosed, and comprises a substrate, a flow feature layer, a nozzle plate, and one or more valves. The substrate includes one or more fluid channels and one or more fluid ports each in communication with at least one of the one or more fluid channels. The flow feature layer is disposed over the substrate, and the flow feature layer include one or more flow features each in communication with at least one of the one or more fluid ports.

An asymmetrical gripping surface is incorporated into a needle shield of an intravenous catheter assembly. The asymmetrical gripping surface provides a gripping position nearer the catheter adapter, catheter and needle tip for improved balance and control of the catheter assembly during insertion of the catheter. Additionally, the asymmetrical gripping surfaces include a guard feature to prevent a user's unintended contact with various components of the catheter assembly whereby the contact may result in an undesirable 'over the bevel' condition.

A vascular access device may form part of an extravascular system and function as an adapter including a gas permeable vent. A method of venting a medical device may include providing a vascular access device as part of an extravascular system, providing a gas permeable vent within the vascular access device, venting gas from the system through the vent, and closing the vent.

A method of venting a medical device may include providing a closed extravascular system having a fluid path, providing a gas vent in communication with the fluid path, venting gas from the extravascular system through the gas vent, and maintaining closure of the extravascular system during and after venting.
