The construction of a light mounting platform or a skeletal frame of a light bar is easily expanded volumetrically in length, width and height to accommodate the mounting of a variety of different visual and audible warning devices, illumination devices as well as a variety of auxiliary devices used on emergency vehicles, utility vehicles, as well as other types of vehicles by switching between pluralities of vertical support columns having different vertical height dimensions and switching between pluralities of bottom plates and top plates having different peripheral configurations with different length and/or width dimensions.

A light bar for use on firefighting or other emergency vehicles includes an elongate base that provides a versatile mounting platform for primary visual and audible warning devices as well as providing a mounting platform for other types of equipment such as secondary visual and audible devices, optical devices, cameras, weather monitoring equipment, GPS devices, preemption devices, running lights and other devices that have been traditionally mounted on a firefighting or emergency vehicle roof and/or other exterior surface area of the emergency vehicle. The light bar is versatile in both allowing many different types of equipment to be selectively mounted and adjustably positioned on the base, and on pairs of support plates that are attachable to the opposite ends of the base and provide support for different combinations of signal lights and other equipment.

An emergency vehicle light bar is provided with a flexible support that can be curved to match the curvature of the top edge of a vehicle window when installing the light bar on the vehicle, giving the light bar a low profile relative to the vehicle and giving the vehicle a stealth or 'unmarked' appearance.

A removable, reusable cover assembly for a light assembly has a light filtering cover with an interior that surrounds a lamp of the light assembly and a connector that attaches to the light assembly. The cover assembly has first and second vent holes that communicate with the interior of the cover. During energization of the lamp, the air in the interior of the cover is heated and escapes through the first vent hole. Cooling air is drawn through the second vent hole into the interior of the cover to cool the lamp.
