This invention relates to ungrounded type flexible fabric container with a reduced energy of electrostatic discharge suitable for use in a combustible environment. A woven fabric is configured to form a flexible fabric container having sidewalls, a top feature and a bottom feature. The woven fabric flexible bulk container is made from a static dissipating fabric comprising fabric woven of non-conductive tapes, to which a plurality of bicomponent conductive staple fibers are added. The bicomponent conductive staple fibers have one or more longitudinal stripes of a carbon loaded conductive constituent on an outer surface of a non-conductive constituent. Preferably the staple fibers are woven into or coated onto the fabric at a spacing of from 3 mm to 100 mm.

Laminates are disclosed having interlayers containing an infrared absorbing amount of lanthanum hexaboride (LaB) coated on or dispersed in a thermoplastic polymeric matrix. Preferably, the LaBis combined with other materials, such as indium tin oxide, antimony tin oxide, organic dyes or pigments in a polymeric matrix of polyvinyl butyral (PVB). Alternatively, LaBis coated on a sheet of polyethylene terephthalate and encapsulated with one or more sheets of PVB. The interlayers having LaBdispersed therein or coated thereon are advantageously combined with encapsulation layers, reflective layers, dyed layers and/or pigmented layers.

The present invention relates to a textile filament with a contact angle greater than or equal to 90 degrees. Such filaments are either water-repellent or resistant to chemicals, and yarns made therefrom readily processible into fabrics. In a detailed embodiment, the filaments are water-repellent and comprise a first longitudinally-extending component comprising at least one polymer selected from nylon, polyester, polypropylene, or other filament-forming polymer, and a second longitudinally-extending component, comprising a halogenated polymer. In a second detailed embodiment, the filaments are chemical-resistant and comprise a first longitudinally-extending component comprising at least one fiber-forming polymer and a second longitudinally-extending component comprising an olefin copolymer. In both embodiments, the second longitudinally-extending component is present on the exterior of the first longitudinally-extending component. The present invention also relates to yarns made from the filaments, and fabrics made from the yarns, as well as methods of making the yarns and the fabric.

A polyvinyl butyral composition is disclosed which is comprised of polyvinyl butyral resin containing an IR absorbing effective amount of lanthanum hexaboride or a mixture of lanthanum hexaboride and at least one of tin oxide and antimony tin oxide. Also disclosed are a sheet of the IR absorbing polyvinyl butyral and a glass laminate having the IR absorbing polyvinyl butyral sheet disposed between two sheets of glass.
