An alignment plate can comprise a body having an exterior-facing surface and an implant-facing surface, at least one adjustable finger extending in a direction transverse to a plane defined by the body, and at least one patient-engaging surface positioned on the at least one adjustable finger. The adjustable finger can be adjustable to vary the distance between the patient-engaging surface and the implant-facing surface. The patient-engaging surface can be configured to engage a portion of a patient to align the alignment plate relative to the patient in a selected orientation. Additional apparatus, methods, and systems are disclosed.

Prosthesis alignment system

An acetabular device includes a patient-specific acetabular alignment guide including a bone engagement surface. The bone engagement surface has a first portion configured and shaped to be conforming and complementary to an acetabular rim surface and a second portion configured and shaped to be conforming and complementary to a periacetabular area of an acetabulum of a patient. The acetabular alignment guide includes a plurality of guiding formations extending through the second portion for guiding a plurality of alignment pins therethrough. The bone engagement surface and the plurality of guiding formations are prepared from a three-dimensional model of the acetabulum of the specific patient reconstructed pre-operatively from a scan of the patient.

Patient-specific acetabular alignment guides

A prosthesis according to the present disclosure includes a shell. A liner is disposed within the shell, and a femoral head may be disposed within the liner. A locking mechanism may assist in securing the liner within the shell. The locking mechanism may be removed when the shell, liner, and femoral head are implanted. The shell extends beyond a hemisphere of the shell, and the liner extends beyond a hemisphere of the liner.

Liner system

Disclosed is an orthopedic implant that includes an anchor, a bore, and a compressible and expandable mesh. The anchor is configured to secure the implant at an implantation site and defines a longitudinal axis. The bore is defined by the anchor and extends along the longitudinal axis. The compressible and expandable mesh is aligned along the longitudinal axis and defines a plurality of openings. The mesh is configured to compress along the longitudinal axis and expand from the longitudinal axis to engage surrounding bone or tissue at the implantation site to secure the implant at the implantation site.

Implant fixation device

An acetabular implant including an acetabular cup having a wall with a first elongated slot defining a passage through the wall, and an insert slidably received in the first elongated slot and movable relative to the slot in a first direction. The insert can include a second elongated slot that extends in a second direction different than the first direction. The second elongated slot can be configured to slidably receive a bone fastener and guide the bone fastener through the passage of the acetabular cup at a selected angle.

Locking screw assembly

A method for inserting an acetabular implant into the acetabulum of a patient. The method includes engaging a patient-specific surface of acetabular alignment guide to a complementary rim surface and periacetabular area of a patient. A plurality of alignment pins are inserted through corresponding alignment apertures of the acetabular alignment guide and into the periacetabular area of the patient. The acetabular alignment guide is removed without removing the alignment pins from the patient. An alignment adapter is coupled to an acetabular inserter over the alignment pins and an acetabular implant is implanted using the acetabular inserter.

A prosthetic system is disclosed that can have a feature for identifying an aspect of the prosthetic member and related instruments. The identification feature can identify cooperating components of the prosthetic system, such as an implant and instruments for use with the implant.

Method and apparatus to identify coordinated components

A patient-specific acetabular guide can be used for preparing an acetabulum of a patient to receive an acetabular implant. The acetabular guide includes a patient-specific engagement surface designed to be complementary and mateable with a corresponding surface of the patient's pelvic anatomy. The acetabular guide is designed during a pre-operative plan for the patient by a three-dimensional reconstruction of the anatomy of the patient using two-dimensional medical images. The patient-specific engagement surface has a first portion mateable with a portion of the acetabulum of the patient. The acetabular guide includes a guiding element that extends from the acetabular guide opposite to the first portion of engagement surface. The guiding element defines a bore designed to be oriented along an alignment axis for an acetabular implant when the acetabular guide is engaged to the acetabulum.

Patient-specific acetabular guides and associated instruments

An acetabular shell can include a substrate and a screw hole cover. The substrate can define a screw hole configured to receive a screw to fix the substrate to bone. The screw hole cover is formed separate from the substrate and attached to the substrate to cover the screw hole, and configured to be ruptured.

Acetabular screw hole covers with porous coating

A prosthetic joint assembly that includes a shell including an inner surface. The assembly also includes a bearing member including an outer surface. The bearing member is received by the shell such that the outer surface of the bearing member is adjacent the inner surface of the shell. Furthermore, the joint assembly includes a compressible member that is rigidly fixed to the inner surface of the shell or the outer surface of the bearing member to only cover a portion thereof. The compressible member is made of a material that is different from the shell or the bearing member.

Metal-on-metal modular hybrid liner

A method and apparatus for implanting various portions of a prosthesis into an anatomy. The instruments can include portions that allow for positive and rigid engagement with a selected prosthesis member to allow for positioning it relative to the anatomy. Further, various instruments can include portions that allow it to engage or match with marking portions or alignment portions on a first prosthesis member to align a second prosthesis member with the first one. Further, methods of using the various instruments are taught and providing for a less or minimally invasive procedure.
