The gliding seating unit of the present invention comprises: A base configured to reset upon an underlying surface; a seat overlying the base; a unitary front glide member, and unitary rear glide member. The front glide member is connected with the base and the seat and comprises an upper panel fixed to the base, a lower panel connected with the seat, and a gliding panel hingedly attached at an upper end to the upper panel and hingedly attached at a lower end to the lower panel. The rear glide member is connected with the base and the seat and comprises an upper panel fixed to the base, a lower panel connected with the seat, and a gliding panel hingedly attached at an upper end to the upper panel and hingedly attached at a lower end to the lower panel. The front and rear glide members are constructed and mounted such that the seat is suspended from the base and is free to glide along a longitudinal path responsive to a longitudinally-directed force, wherein the longitudinal path is defined by motion of the gliding panels of the front and rear glide members. Preferably, the front and rear glide members are formed of a polymeric material, such that the upper and lower panels of the front and rear glide members are connected to the glide panels via 'living' hinges.

Gliding seating unit with hinged gliding members

The gliding seating unit comprises: a base configured to rest upon an underlying surface; a seat assembly positioned above the base that includes a generally horizontal seat and a pair of side panels connected with and extending downwardly from opposite side edges of the seat; an extendable ottoman including an ottoman panel; gliding means attached between the base and the seat for enabling and controlling gliding movement of the seat relative to the base; and an ottoman-extending mechanism attached to the seat and the ottoman that includes a seat bracket attached to the seat, an ottoman linkage attached to the ottoman, and an actuation linkage pivotally interconnected with the seat bracket and the ottoman linkage. The ottoman linkage is configured to move the ottoman between a retracted position, in which the ottoman panel is generally upright and located below the seat, and an extended position, in which the ottoman panel is generally horizontally disposed and located forward of the seat. The actuation linkage comprises a rotatable, transversely-extending drive axle that passes through the bracket, a bell crank attached to the drive axle, a spring tab pivotally interconnected with the bell crank, and an ottoman drive link pivotally interconnected with the bell crank and the ottoman linkage. The actuation linkage is configured such that rotation of the drive axle drives the ottoman between its retracted and extended positions.

Gliding seating unit with extendable footrest

A body support moveable between unfolded and folded positions comprises: serially interconnected body, cavity and seat sections defined by respective upper and lower grids and including resilient members. The body, cavity and seat sections have their upper and lower grids positioned to be substantially coplanar in the unfolded position, and the seat section overlies the body section in the folded position. The resilient members of the seat section are generally planar and are arranged in a plurality of transverse rows. The resilient members are pivotally attached to the seat section upper and lower grids such that, in the unfolded position, the resilient members of the seat section are erect and extend substantially normal to the seat section upper and lower grids, and in the folded position, the resilient members of the seat section pivot relative to the seat section upper and lower grids to bring the seat section upper and lower grids adjacent each other. The seat section lower grid further comprises a lower border wire which comprises a pair of longitudinal runs and a transverse run therebetween. The transverse run of the upper border wire is positioned above and interconnected with a row of the seat section resilient members spaced farthest from the cavity section; also, the transverse run of the lower border wire is spaced rearwardly from the seat section resilient members. The seat section upper grid comprises a pair of upper border wires, each of which extends longitudinally above a respective lower border wire longitudinal run. A transitional border wire has a pair of longitudinal runs and a transverse run positioned therebetween. The transitional border wire is pivotally interconnected with the seat section lower grid. The transitional border wire transverse run is spaced rearwardly from the resilient members and above the lower border wire transverse run.

Foldable bed with collapsible sinuous springs

A glider-recliner chair that can glide both the upright and reclined positions includes a seat, a base, a footrest, and side panels. The side panels are interconnected with the base via front and rear glide links. The side panels, seat, and footrest are interconnected with a reclining mechanism. The reclining mechanism is configured so that the footrest cushions comprising the footrest are in a stacked vertical relationship when the chair is in the upright position and are positioned so that the upper footrest cushion is positioned between the lower footrest cushion and the seat when the chair is in the reclined position. The mechanism includes front and rear swing links for controlling the movement of the seat relative to the side panels and base and a footrest drive link for driving the footrest to its extended position.

Gliding reclining chair

A mechanism for actuating a remote release device, such as that of reclining seating unit, is disclosed. The mechanism can be actuated by either of two actuation actions, each of which operates independently of the other. The mechanism enables the operator to actuate the device by the method he prefers.

Dual-operated mechanism for remote latch actuation

A seating unit having a movable seat is disclosed. The seat is movable between a closed position, in which the seating surface of the seat is generally horizontally disposed, and an open position in which the seating surface is generally vertically disposed and forwardly facing, the lower surface of the movable seat confronts the front wall of the seating unit, and the front edge portion of the seat is adjacent the underlying surface. Mechanisms suitable for effecting such movement are also disclosed.

Seating unit with storage receptacle

Tables having a table top that is movable between a closed position atop the table base and an open position forward and above the table base are disclosed. Certain table embodiments have swivel means to permit rotation of the table top about an axis of rotation normal to the table surface. Others include mechanisms for moving the table surface between the open and the closed position that are sufficiently compact as to be suitable for use with a large majority of coffee table and end table styles.

A mechanism suitable for use with a retractable sofa table adapted for mounting the mechanism to a sofa frame, a lower pivot link pivotally interconnected to the mounting element, a table mounting bracket pivotally interconnected to the lower pivot link configured to be fixed to the table section, and an upper pivot link pivotally interconnected to the mounting element, and further pivotally interconnected to the table mounting bracket is disclosed. The upper pivot link includes between its pivots a bend disposed toward the lower pivot link which is configured to accept the profile of a sofa table.

Sofa table and mechanism

Disclosed is a mechanism for a seating unit headrest which permits adjustment of the headrest portion relative to the remainder of the mechanism to permit use of the mechanism with seating units of different heights. Also disclosed is a mechanism which includes a flange on the rear extension link of the headrest so that only one link of the mechanism per side is visible when the chair is viewed from side or rear elevation.

Adjustable foldable headrest

A headrest mechanism suitable for use in a seating unit comprising a headrest plate movable between a retracted position and an extended position having a lower front edge, means for actuating the headrest plate between the retracted position and the extended position pivotally interconnected to the headrest plate, and means for fixedly mounting the headrest mechanism onto the seating unit pivotally connected to the actuating means is disclosed. In the retracted position, the headrest plate is disposed generally horizontally, with the lower front edge being separated from a fixed point on the mounting means by a first distance, and in the extended position, the headrest plate is disposed generally vertically, with the lower edge being separated from the same fixed point on the mounting means by a second distance, the second distance being substantially greater than the first distance.

Foldable headrest mechanism

A mechanism for use with a sofa table movable between a retracted closed position and a generally horizontal open position is disclosed. The mechanism is particularly suited for use with a sofa to which is attached a foldable bed. The mechanism comprises: a mounting link adapted for mounting the mechanism to a sofa frame; a lower pivot link pivotally interconnected to the mounting link; a table mounting bracket pivotally interconnected to the lower pivot link and adapted to be fixed to a sofa table; and an upper pivot link pivotally interconnected to the mounting link and further pivotally interconnected with the table mounting bracket. The lower pivot link includes a bend between its pivots disposed toward the upper pivot link within which the head portion of a foldable bed in its fold position can reside when the sofa table is in its closed position.
