LADAR systems and methods are disclosed. LADAR systems include a LADAR transmitter configured to emit a laser signal from a platform and a LADAR receiver configured to detect the laser signal returning from a target moving relative to the platform. The LADAR receiver includes a dynamic receiver filter with a receiver bandwidth (which may be about equal to the linewidth of the laser signal) and a tunable receiver center wavelength. The LADAR receiver is configured to adjust the receiver center wavelength to a wavelength that is Doppler-shifted due to the target velocity. Methods include transmitting a laser signal from a platform, returning the laser signal from a moving target, adjusting a dynamic receiver filter to a receiver center wavelength that is based upon the center wavelength of the returned laser signal (that includes a Doppler offset due to the relative velocity of the target), and receiving the returned laser signal.

A device includes a first sensor configured to generate a first output signal corresponding to an energy of a portion of a forward beam transmitted by a mirror of a laser resonator system. The device further includes a second sensor configured to generate a second output signal corresponding to an energy of a portion of a return beam transmitted by the mirror. A ratio of the energy of the portion of the forward beam and the energy of the portion of the return beam corresponds to a measurement of a feedback ratio of the laser resonator system.

A fiber gain medium assembly is provided. The fiber gain medium assembly includes a fiber gain medium, which in turn, includes a longitudinally extending inner core. The fiber gain medium also includes a cladding layer and a photo-emitting conductive polymer, both of which surround the inner core and extend longitudinally therealong. In this regard, the photo-emitting conductive polymer can surround the cladding layer to thereby surround the inner core. Alternatively, the cladding layer can comprise the photo-emitting conductive polymer. The fiber gain medium assembly can also include an electrical system electrically coupled to the photo-emitting conductive polymer. The electrical system is capable of providing an electric field to thereby excite the photo-emitting conductive polymer to emit photons capable of propagating into the inner core and producing gain for the signals propagating through the inner core.

A real time in situ system and method for monitoring solutions, such as basic hydrogen peroxide (BHP) and other laser fuel solutions, is provided. Raman spectroscopy is applied to a solution of interest to provide substantially real time and in situ characterization of the solution. In one embodiment, OOHand HORaman peaks are monitored in real time and in situ for determination of BHP composition.

A laser includes a chamber having a front mirror and a back mirror defining a optical propagation path. An optical gain medium such as a solid state disk, rod or slab is located between the front and back mirrors within the chamber to produce a laser light along the optical propagation path. A birefringent lens formed from an optically active material is located within the chamber to simultaneously focus the laser light and to affect the polarity of the laser light as the light passes through the birefringent lens.
