A field terminal plug assembly including an RJ45 plug connected to a termination zone. The termination zone includes a wire cap, a rear sled, and an electrical board assembly with attached insulation displacement contacts (IDCs) electrically connected to the twisted wire-pairs of assembly cable. The wire cap is configured to terminate twisted wire-pairs of a communications cable to the IDCs when the wire cap is inserted into the rear sled. The IDCs contain at least a first and a second IDC, the first IDC having a first horizontal length and a first vertical length and the second IDC having a second horizontal length and a second vertical length. The first vertical length does not equal the second vertical length but the first vertical length plus the first horizontal length equals the second vertical length plus the second horizontal length.

A modular communications plug is disclosed having a simplified design that allows for more efficient termination of a cable into the plug. The plug includes modular components that are applicable to different applications.

An RJ45 Communication jack has a housing with a top, bottom, front, and back. A foil is immediately adhered to and partially covers the housing. A top or bottom of the housing is covered by a first portion and a second portion of the foil wherein the first portion and the second portion are separated by a nonconductive gap. The gap extends from the front of the housing to the rear of the housing. With such foils placed on each one of a series of adjacent jack housing, common mode noise caused by capacitive coupling between adjacent ones of the foils is reduced.

The present invention generally relates to the field of network communication, and more specifically to networks for crosstalk reduction/compensation and communication connectors which employ such networks. In some embodiments, the present invention employs an orthogonal network implemented within a communication jack to compensate for crosstalk which occurs within a communication plug and at the plug/jack interface.

This application describes a jack for improving crosstalk attenuation. The jack has a housing, a foil at least partially surrounding the housing, wherein the foil is made up of a first section separated and conductively isolated from a second section by a gap or made up of a first metalized section separated and conductively isolated from a second metalized section by a non-metalized section whereby common mode noise caused by the capacitive coupling between foils of a series of adjacent jacks is reduced.

This application describes a jack for improving crosstalk attenuation. The jack has a housing, a foil at least partially surrounding the housing, a printed circuit board, and at least one pair of insulation displacement contacts and vias. Each pair of insulation contacts and vias are associated with a differential signal. A conductive trace stub is routed on the printed circuit board near the edge of the board proximate to the foil in order to at least partially balance the coupling from one of the insulation displacement contacts and vias of a pair to the foil with the other insulation displacement contact and via of the pair by electrically connecting the trace stub to the via that is further from the foil.

A coaxial connector of the type wherein an inner connector member of a female connector is adapted for secure engagement with a connector member of a male connector. The coaxial connector is positioned around the connector member of the male connector and the connector member of the female connector when the coaxial connector is in its locked position. A spring basket with an angular frontal surface is positioned around the connection member of the male connector. A sleeve with an angular internal surface for engaging the angular frontal surface of the spring basket is reciprically positioned around the spring basket and the connection member of the male connector. The sleeve has at least one locking groove that extends substantially parallel to the major axis along a portion of the body thereof. A spring nut is provided with a hollow front end disposed within the sleeve and at least one upstanding locking finger disposed within the at least one locking grove of the sleeve. A spring is partially disposed within the hollow front end of the spring nut, and the spring is positioned between the spring nut and the connection member of the male connector respectively such that when the spring nut is pushed in a forward axial direction relative to the sleeve to lock the coaxial connector, the spring is compressed and the internal angular surface of the sleeve engages the angular frontal surface of the spring basket forcing the spring basket to apply a radially inward force on the connection member of the female connector, holding the female connector in place. The spring provides an axial force on the connection member of the male connector and forces the connection member of the male connector into engagement with the connection member of the female connector.

Coaxial connector apparatus and method

A connector for connecting a coaxial cable to radio frequency (RF) equipment in which an inner contact is positioned inside a channel within a conductive metal body and an electrically insulating material is injected into the channel, thereby providing insulation between the contact and the metal body and retaining the contact in position within the body. Connecting a coaxial cable to RF equipment is simplified and soldering of the inner contact is avoided.
