A form assemblage for making concrete and other building walls is disclosed. The form assemblage includes interlocking interior and exterior wall panels that are connected at a predetermined spacing with panel connectors that interlock with the interior wall panels and the exterior wall panels. The panel connectors have means for holding insulating foam panels at a position intermediate to the interior and exterior wall panels. Cavities between the insulating foam panels and the exterior and/or interior wall panels can be filled with concrete or other load-bearing materials. In certain aspects, the form assemblage can be used as a wall structure without the use of the load-bearing material.

Insulated wall construction and forms and method for making same

An insulating polymer foam sheet having two major sides and at least one groove in at least one of said sides. At least a portion of the foam sheet adjacent to the groove is compressible and resilient, and has a length and height the same as the adjacent groove. Each groove and compressible portion is of a width that permits the groove to receive and tightly fit around a support member in a frame building construction.

Wall system and insulation panel therefor

This invention is a partially or semi-cured foam used to form the pipe insulation. The semi-cured foam is very flexible and can be formed around a pipe for a long period of time after production. The semi-cured phenolic foam board of this invention is a closed cell foam. The semi-cured foam is further cured in the formed shape. Upon curing the foam retains the shape of the preform. The semi-cured product is very flexible, once fully cured, the insulation becomes rigid.

Process for producing shaped phenolic foams

A method for producing a foam-containing structure. In a first embodiment, a defoamer is applied to the inner surface of an impermeable carrier. A foamed resin is introduced inside the carrier and contacts the defoamer to form a liquid resin layer on the inner surface. The foamed resin and liquid resin layer are cured to produce a foamed resin inner core and a solid resin outer layer. In a second embodiment, a permeable carrier is covered with an impermeable release material. A defoamer is applied to the carrier. A foamed resin is introduced inside the carrier and contacts the defoamer to form a liquid resin layer impregnating the carrier. The foamed resin and liquid resin layer are cured to produce a foamed resin inner core, the carrier as a facer material, and a solid resin layer impregnating the carrier. In a third embodiment, a defoamer and a catalyst are applied to a permeable carrier. A foamed resin is introduced inside the carrier and contacts the defoamer to form a liquid resin layer impregnating the carrier. At least a portion of the liquid resin layer contacts the catalyst and cures into a solid resin layer. The foamed resin and any uncured portion of the liquid resin layer are cured to produce a foamed resin inner core, the carrier as a facer material, and a solid resin layer impregnating the carrier.

Manufacture of foam-containing structures

The invention relates to a process for producing non-CFC resol foams of low density using perfluorinated ethers along with a HCFC or CFC blowing agent, and to foams produced by such a process. The process generally comprises: (a) forming a mixture by combining a resol resin with a blowing-agent blend comprising (i) at least one blowing agent selected from the group consisting of hydrogenated chlorofluorocarbons and hydrogenated fluorocarbons and (ii) at least one perfluoroether additive selected from the group consisting of peiurinated ethers; (b) adding an acid catalyst to the mixture to initiate foaming and form a foam; and (c) curing the foam to form a cured foam that is essentially free of CFCs.

Manufacture of non-CFC cellular resol foams using perflurinated ethers

In a method of making a linear composite member, a hollow carrier is provided having a cavity and an inner surface. A curable liquid or gelled resin is applied to the inner surface. A curable foam is introduced into the cavity. The foam contacts the resin when the resin is not more than partially cured, and preferably when the resin has a viscosity not greater than 250,000 centipoise at 25.degree. C. The foam and resin, which are preferably both polyurethanes, are cured together to form a linear composite member having a foam core and a hard resin skin formed integrally. In a preferred embodiment, a reinforcement material, such as a glass fiber web, is embedded in the resin skin.

Manufacturing of foam-containing composites

The invention relates to a process for producing non-CFC resol foams of low density using perfluorinated ethers along with a HCFC or CFC blowing agent, and to foams produced by such a process. Manufacture of non-CFC cellular resol foams using perfluorinated ethers

This invention relates to insulating foams and to a process for producing the foams. Preferably, the foams are made from phenol formaldehyde resins. The blowing agents for making the foams include film forming coating material which coats the interior surfaces of the foam cells. The coated foams have better thermal conductivity.

Manufacture of insulating foams containing film forming additives

The invention forms in situ carbon dioxide blown closed cell insulating foams in which blowing is achieved by the evolution of carbon dioxide resulting from partial hydrolysis of polyisocyanate (methyl diphenyl diisocyanate) by water in the resole. The invention uses no additional blowing agent. The reaction is fast and the resulting product has small, closed cells that exhibit long term thermal performance.

In situ blown foams

This invention produces three-dimensional shapes such as window lineals by first lining a foam die with a continuously moving reinforcing veil. Once the veil is in the foam die, a foam is blown into the die. The foam expands in the die forcing the veil against the die wall. The veil is selected so that the foam never fully penetrates the veil, but adheres to it. The material exiting the foam die is now properly shaped to enter the curing die. Resin is then injected onto the foam core where it penetrates the veil, is cured in the heated curing die and exits as a finished product of a plastic skin adhered to a foam core with a veil sandwiched therebetween.
