A display keyboard, video, mouse (KVM) switch associates video and data ports with an information handling system by communicating identifiable information between the KVM switch and information handling system through both video and data ports to confirm which of the data ports is associated with a video port that presents visual images of the information handling system. The identifiable information includes a unique token or virtual mouse inputs communicated as data to an information handling system that are detected in visual information communicated as mouse cursor movements.

Information handling system and KVM display automated configuration

In response to detecting that a display device is in a multi-stream transport mode, an information handling system determines a display partition layout of the display device. The system transmits setup display patterns according to the display partition layout of the display device, wherein the setup display patterns include a first display pattern and a second display pattern, wherein the first display pattern is associated with a first display partition, and wherein the second display pattern is associated with a second display partition. In response to determining that the first display pattern should be associated with the second display partition and that the second display pattern should be associated with the first display partition, the system associates the first display pattern with the second display partition and associates the second display pattern with the first display partition.

Automatic configuration of sub-display positions in multi-stream transport mode

Described are systems and methods to synchronize adaptive luminance and color controls of multiple displays. The displays are included in ambient light sensor (ALS) cluster that includes ALS equipped and non ALS equipped displays. An ALS equipped display is designed as primary display and the other displays are designed as follower displays. ALS equipped displays collect ALS readings which are used to determine luminance and color tone/Correlated Color Temperature (CCT). The determined luminance and CCT are arbitrated, and the arbitrated luminance and CCT are provided to the displays for use. The displays can be daisy chained, and the primary display collects, arbitrates, and provides the luminance and CCT. In certain implementations, an IHS (i.e., software on the IHS) collects, arbitrates, and provides the luminance and CCT.

System and method to synchronize adaptive luminance and color controls among multiple displays

A display includes a keyboard, video mouse (KVM) switch that interfaces plural peripheral communication ports and plural information handling system ports. The KVM switch in a first configuration accepts video from one of the information handling system ports for presentation as visual images at a display panel and interfaces all of the plural peripheral communication ports with the one of the information handling system ports. When an end user commands a change to a different information handling system port and the KVM switch detects that a predetermined information transfer is taking place at the one of the information handling system ports, such as a bulk isochronous transfer or greater than a predetermined bandwidth utilization, the KVM switch changes the interface of peripheral devices and video to the second information handling system port while maintaining the transfer of the predetermined type of information with the first information handling system port.

Multi-KVM multi-client information handling system support

A display keyboard video mouse (KVM) switch detects cables connected to ports of the display and compares the cable types against a configuration table to select a configuration user interface for presentation at the display retrieved from non-transitory memory of the display by a processing resource of the KVM switch. As an end user adjusts the cables connected to the display KVM switch, logic executing on the display adjusts the presentation of the configuration user interface to guide connections with plural information handling systems based upon the cable types and to confirm correct association of keyboard and mouse inputs through the KVM switch with each information handling system.

A system determines if a keyboard, video, and mouse mode is activated, and if so then determines whether a human interface device command is to switch from a first host. In response to determining that the human interface device command is to switch from the first host, the system redirects the human interface device command to a display monitor and switches video and universal serial bus input from the first host to the second host.

Adaptive channel switching mechanism

An information handling system includes displays, each of which has a first upstream-facing port (UFP), a second UFP, a downstream-facing port (DFP), and a multiplexer for selecting among the first UFP and the second UFP. The DFP of each display is connected to the first UFP of its respective succeeding display so as to form a ring network topology. A host computer is connected to the second UFP of a first display, and the multiplexer of the first display configured to select the second UFP.

In some implementations, a display controller controlling a video input of a display device may select a first set of parameter values from multiple sets of parameter values to configure the video input. After receiving a request from a video source, the display controller may initiate link training. After the link training is completed, the display controller may generate a current link score, determine that the current link score is greater than a stored link score, set a value of the stored link score to be the current link score, and store the first set of parameter values. After selecting each set of parameter values from the multiple sets of parameter values, the display controller may configure the video input of the display device based on the set of parameter values from the multiple sets of parameter values that generated the stored (highest) score.

Systems and methods for Light Emitting Diode (LED) backlight control for reproduction of High Dynamic Range (HDR) content using Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panels. In an illustrative, non-limiting embodiment, an LCD display may include: an SDR-LCD panel and a controller coupled to the SDR-LCD panel, the controller configured to: identify video that includes HDR content using a luminance histogram, and to display the HDR content by increasing a luminance of a Light-Emitting Diode (LED) backlight disposed within the LCD display.
