A mining member designed as a cutting roller for a continuously operating surface miner for mining mineral raw materials of high strength. The roller body is equipped for this purpose with mini-disk bits of identical design. Since different conditions occur over the entire width of the roller during the separation of the material from the soil, the roller body is designed correspondingly, and the arrangement of the mini-disk bits is adapted to these conditions. The mini-disk bits in the edge areas are placed at a greater density than are the mini-disk bits () in the middle area. In addition, mini-disk bits are directed obliquely toward the outside as free-cutting bits at the two outer edges of the cutting roller. The height of the mini-disk bits is selected to be such that their individual virtual rolling paths together form a virtual cutting roller body, which comprises a middle cylinder, which is joined on both sides by outwardly tapering frusta. This solution is associated with the advantages that more mini-disk bits are available per unit area in the critical edge areas for separating the material and for cutting the roller free, and the cutting height His smaller there.

Cutting roller for a continuously operating surface miner

A small sized disk bit includes a bit holder accommodated in a bearing journal on its side (overhangingly), and a disk body with asymmetrically designed wedge flanks mounted rotatably thereon. To enable the disk body to absorb high radial and axial strong forces encountered during the engagement of the disk on a solid rock, the disk body is designed as a one-part disk body with a blind hole with its surface and the bearing journal surface being designed as components of the bearing. The bearing involves the combination of a radial and thrust bearing each, where the thrust bearing is milled into the track of the radial bearing. A ball bearing is used as the axial bearing and a needle roller bearing, a cylindrical roller bearing or a slide bearing is used as the radial bearing. The diameter of the ball bearing is larger than the diameter of the needle rollers, or the cylindrical rollers or the thickness of the sliding bush of the slide bearing.

Mini disk bit

A continuously operating surface miner designed basically with a milling roller for the accurate, selective mining of sedimentary beds. The parameters cutting height, cutting width and feed speed are decisive for the performance capacity of surface miners. How the miner begins a block to be mined, how it finishes it and changes over to a new block to be mined is significant as well. The particular technology that can be used depends essentially on the mobility of the miner and the possibility of the engagement of the milling roller with the material to be mined. A three-caterpillar chassis for the miner and for arranging the milling roller (,) in front of the said chassis in the direction of mining is provided. The milling roller (,) is mounted on a transverse frame (,) and is fastened by same to the superstructure (,) of the miner. High mobility of the miner is achieved due to this arrangement of the milling roller and the use of the chassis. The miner always travels on a clean, freshly cut level, so that natural unevennesses or ditches dug to drain surface water do not interfere with the travel. Another advantage of this design is that the miner can move backward without problems, can strip corners with ease and can also open basin-shaped deposits with a circular feed movement.

Surface miner with tilting superstructure for depth control

A milling roller module for a surface miner, includes a milling roller operating with undershot for loosening the material from the block being mined, a support frame for fastening the milling roller to the surface miner, and a takeup chute for supporting the intermediate conveying of the loosened material in the area of the milling roller and for transferring the material to the downstream discharge belt in a specific manner. The drives are placed into the milling roller and the feed lines are led into the milling roller together with the support frame for fastening the milling roller from the side in the upper third of the milling roller diameter. As a result, it is possible to perform mining operations up to a cutting depth that is equal to half the roller diameter. A takeup chute is provided to transfer the material from the milling roller onto the downstream discharge belt in a specific manner. This takeup chute is also used to limit the conveying space in the area of the milling roller together with ring segments arranged on it and on the milling roller and thus to reduce losses of material.
