A wind deflector for a vehicle is disclosed. The wind deflector includes at least one housing element, at least one deflector element which is at least partially received in the housing element, at least one actuator via which the deflector element is able to move in a linearly oscillating manner relative to the housing element in at least one spatial direction, and at least one sealing element via which the deflector element is sealed at least in one partial region against the housing element. The sealing element is formed as a flexible membrane which is arranged on the one hand on the housing element and on the other hand on the deflector element to be able to move with this.

A wind deflector for a vehicle is provided. The wind deflector includes a movably mounted deflector element and an actuator for moving the deflector element. The actuator can move the deflector element in a linearly oscillating manner in one direction in space, especially vertically. In a fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine with a high pressure pump for supplying pressurized fuel to fuel injection valves and a multi-way valve disposed in the high pressure fuel line to the fuel injector for controlling the fuel flow to the injector, the multi-way valve is a spool valve which includes an actuator for positioning the spool to provide selectively a flow connection between the high pressure pump and the injection valve or between the injection valve and a fuel return line and which further includes an inflow throttle structure forming a pressure control device. A pressure sensor is arranged between the spool valve and the fuel injector and supplies the sensed pressure value to a controller which compares the value with predetermined set values and provides a correction value to the multi-way valve actuator for the correction of the pressure of the fuel supplied to the fuel injection valve.

A fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine with a reservoir for pressurised fuel and at least one fuel injector which has a solenoid activated valve to control fuel pressure therein, and including a control piston linked to the injector's valving member and defining a control space communicated with the injector's fuel, and further including a pressure regulating valve assembly with another solenoid activated valve operated independently of the injector's solenoid valve and which is located between the reservoir and the fuel injector for selectively creating different flow control configurations to regulate fuel pressure delivered to the injector. In a fuel injection system for an internal combustion engine with a fuel injection pump providing for an initial fuel injection and a main fuel injection wherein the fuel injection pump includes a main fuel supply passage section and a side passage and a main fuel control valve disposed in the main fuel supply passage section and an additional control valve arranged in the side passage, at low engine speeds, the main fuel control valve is closed during the initial and main fuel injection periods for generating a pressure sufficient to open a fuel injector nozzle and the additional fuel control valve is opened for reducing the fuel pressure and terminating initial fuel injection and, at high engine speeds, the main fuel control valve is closed during initial fuel injection and again for the main fuel injection.

In a process for regulating the injection quantities of injectors which are fluidically connected with a common pressure line in a common-rail injection system of an internal-combustion engine, a fuel pump provides fuel in the pressure line under a static nominal pressure. Control signals for opening and closing within individual injection periods for achieving respective identical injection quantities are supplied to the injectors by a regulator unit. In the case of different flow rates of the individual injectors respective identical injection quantities are achieved by the regulator unit by changing the respective injection period on the basis of a measuring signal. For this purpose, a pressure gauge inserted into the pressure line generates a measuring signal from a measurement of the static measuring pressure in the pressure line in each case after the closing of an injector. From the difference between the nominal pressure before the injection and the differential pressure after the injection, the regulator unit determines the fuel quantity taken from the pressure line during the injection. In case of a deviation from a known desired value, the regulator causes a corresponding change of the injection period of the diagnosed injector.

An injector with solenoid-valve control provided for diesel internal-combustion engines has a lateral fuel delivery conduit into a pressure accumulator reaching, on one hand, as far as the needle seat of a nozzle needle and on the other hand as far as a piston arranged on the rear side of the nozzle needle. A control space in the injector is connected by a controllable solenoid valve to the pressure accumulator or, for pressure relief, to a low-pressure conduit. A fuel filter is arranged in the pressure accumulator in the mouth region of the fuel delivery conduit.

In a method of controlling the operation of an internal combustion engine with fuel injection by way of a common high pressure (common rail) fuel supply line to which high pressure fuel is supplied by a high pressure fuel pump and from which fuel is admitted to the various cylinders of the internal combustion engine by valve controlled fuel injection nozzles, the fuel pressure in the common fuel supply line between the end of an injection and the start of a fuel supply period is monitored at distinct timely spaced measurement points and, if a pressure difference between the measurement points is sensed in excess of a predetermined limit value indicating an injector malfunction, the high pressure fuel supply to the common fuel supply line is interrupted by deactivating the high pressure fuel pump while fuel injection through the operative nozzles is maintained so as to rapidly reduce the pressure in the common fuel supply line.
