Isoindoline metal complexes of the formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently of each other H or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, X.sup..crclbar. is one equivalent of a colorless anion and Me is Zn.sup.2+, Ni.sup.2+, Co.sup.2+ or Cu.sup.2+, are suitable for pigmenting surface coatings, plastics and printing inks.

Isoindoline metal complexes

Finely divided, transparent, metal-free X-phthalocyanine has a specific surface area of from 75 to 120 m.sup.2 g and not less than 80% by weight of the phthalocyanine particles have a Stokes-equivalent diameter of .ltoreq.0.12 .mu.m. The phthalocyanine is very useful as a pigment for printing inks and finishes.

Finely divided transparent metal-free X-phthalocyanine

A compound having the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein D is a radical of a heterocyclic or aromatic component selected from the group of aniline, anthraquinone, phthalimide or aminobenzene radicals, wherein the radical is unsubstituted or is substituted by fluorine, chlorine, bromine, nitro, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, trifluoromethyl, cyano, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylsulfonyl, carboxylic acid ester groups, carbamyl, sulfamyl, 1,3,4- or 1,2,4-oxadiazolyl or acylamino groups; X is CO-- or --SO.sub.2 --; and R is an aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic radical selected from the group of C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl which is unsubstituted or is substituted by chlorine, bromine, cyano or dialkylamino groups; or phenyl or methyl groups unsubstituted or substituted by fluorine, bromine, methyl, ethyl, methoxy, ethoxy, cyano, carbamyl, sulfamyl or acylamino groups; or amino group; or a radical of the formula: ##STR2## wherein ring a is unsubstituted or is substituted by nitro, fluro, bromine or methoxy groups; and ring b is unsubstituted or is substituted by chlorine, bromine or nitro groups. The majority of the compounds of the formula (I) have yellow hues and are used as pigments in printing inks and finishes, and as disperse dyes for synthetic fibers.

Preparation of insoluble metal complex colorants

Dyes of the formula I ##STR1## in which A is phenyl or phenyl substituted by chloro, bromo, nitro, methyl, ethyl, methoxy or ethoxy; B.sup.1 is hydrogen, chloro, bromo, nitro, methyl or trifluoromethyl; B.sup.2 is hydrogen, chloro, bromo or nitro; R is C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl; and X is hydrogen, chloro or bromo. The compounds are distinguished by high color strength, brilliance and good fastness properties such as light-fastness, fastness to overspraying, plasticizers fastness and insolubility in most solvents used in connection with pigments. They are particularly suitable for the coloring of air-drying surface coatings, rigid polyvinyl chloride and emulsion paints.

Azo dyes having an oxdiazolyl-1,2,4 group

Uniformly dyed water-swellable cellulosic fibers obtained by dyeing cellulosic fibers, in the swollen state, with a dye of the formula ##STR1## where D is a radical of a diazo component of the aniline, aminoazobenzene, aminophthalimide, aminonaphthalimide, anthraquinone or benzanthrone series, R is alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or phenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by chlorine, bromine, methyl, methoxy or ethoxy and R.sup.1 is phenyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by chlorine, bromine, methyl, ethyl, methoxy, ethoxy, benzyloxy, phenoxy, chlorophenoxy, unsubstituted or N-substituted carbamoyl or sulfamoyl, unsubstituted or N-substituted phthalimidyl, alkoxycarbonyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms, cyano or phenylsulfonyl.

Uniformly dyed water-swellable cellulosic fibers

A process for the production of milled particulate resins which comprises carrying out the reaction of the resin components in a moving reaction vessel containing carrier bodies. The new process is particularly suitable for the production of pigmented resins, for example daylight fluorescent pigments.
