An electromagnetic drive unit for a switching device includes: a magnetic core with a first, a second, and a third magnetic path each arranged transversely with respect to a longitudinal axis of the electromagnetic drive unit and coupled to longitudinal magnetic struts at respective ends to form a magnetic frame structure; an armature movable along the longitudinal axis between a first and a second state; and a first and a second magnetic coil for moving the armature based on excitation of the first and/or the second magnetic coil. The first magnetic coil is arranged between the first and the second magnetic path and the second magnetic coil is arranged between the second and the third magnetic path with respect to the longitudinal axis. The magnetic core and the magnetic coils are arranged such that a magnetic flux that flows through the magnetic paths to move the armature is adjustable.

Electromagnetic drive unit for a switching device and switching device

A switching device includes: a first and a second fixed contact; a contact bridge; a first movable contact and a second movable contact that are arranged at the contact bridge; a first terminal contact on which the first fixed contact is mounted; and a second terminal contact on which the second fixed contact is mounted. The first fixed contact is in contact with the first movable contact and the second fixed contact is in contact with the second movable contact in a switched-on state of the switching device. The first fixed contact is free of contact with the first movable contact and the second fixed contact is free of contact with the second movable contact in a switched-off state of the switching device. A mobile application includes a motive power circuit having a power storage device and an electrical load, where the power storage device and the electrical load are selectively electrically coupled through a power bus. The application includes a power distribution unit (PDU) electrically interposed between the power storage device and the electrical load, where the PDU includes a breaker/relay positioned on one of a high side and a low side of the power storage device. The breaker/relay includes a fixed contact and a moveable contact selectively electrically coupled to the fixed contact, where the moveable contact allows power flow through the power bus when electrically coupled to the fixed contact, and prevents power flow through the power bus when not electrically coupled to the fixed contact. The breaker/relay includes an armature coupled to the moveable contact, and capable to open or close the motive power circuit.

A switching device, for the on-off switching of a current passing through a current path, has at least one fixed contact and at least one movable contact, wherein the movable contact can be moved relative to the fixed contact for making or breaking the current path, and a drive for the functional movement of a jumper between a contact-making position and a contact-breaking position. In the contact-making position with the fixed contact, the movable contact makes the current path. The switching device includes a high-speed circuit breaker for breaking the current path in the event of a short circuit or overload, wherein the armature of the high-speed circuit breaker is rigidly coupled to the movable contact.

Switching device which is suitable for DC operation

A switching device having at least one contact pair includes a first contact and a second contact, where at least the second contact is movable relative to the first contact. There is an extinguishing device with at least one extinguishing chamber for extinguishing an arc produced between the contacts, a first guide rail arrangement for guiding the arc with one direction of current and a second guide rail arrangement for guiding the arc with the second direction of current in said extinguishing chamber. Both guide rail arrangements have a first guide rail and a second guide rail, where both first guide rails starting from the first contact run in the opposite direction, and both second guide rails starting from the second contact run in the opposite direction. The first guide rails are connected with each other in an electrically conductive arrangement in the form of a closed loop.

Electrical switching device having a housing, at least two switching chambers within the housing with contacts to interrupt at least one current path, an arc extinguishing device for each switching chamber, and at least one guide channel within the housing, which directs the arc gas exiting the arc extinguishing device towards at least one of the exhaust openings to allow the arc gases to exit the housing, whereby each switching chamber has a guide channel, and whereby the guide channels of the different switching chambers are separated from each other.

A polarity-independent switching device for carrying and disconnecting high DC currents has a gastight, encapsulated, electrically insulating housing which can be filled with an insulating gas, and at least one pair of contacts disposed in the housing and made up of a fixed contact and a mobile contact. The two contacts are in contact with each other in a switched-on state of the switching device and are not in contact in a switch-off state of the switching device. An arc driver arrangement is included which generates a magnetic field at least in the region of the pair of contacts, as well as a first arc routing arrangement with which an arc produced between the contacts is guided in a first current direction to a quenching area arranged at a distance from the contacts.

Polarity independent switching device for carrying and disconnecting direct current

A switch for multi-pole direct current service independent of polarity includes a plurality of switching chambers. Each chamber includes a double interrupter having two separate fixed contacts with a first contact area, a movable contact piece with two second contact areas, each for creating a connection between the contact areas in an ON state and for separating the contact areas in an OFF state, and at least two quenching devices for quenching arcs occurring when the OFF state is brought about. The switch also includes magnets for exerting a magnetic field in an area of the contact areas to exert a magnetic force on the arcs and drive the arcs, independent of their current direction, in the direction of one of the erasing devices. The contact pieces are disposed with the second contact areas essentially in a line perpendicular to a direction of motion of the arcs.
