Copolymerizable photoinitiators for UV-crosslinkable adhesives

The invention relates to radically copolymerizable acetophenone or benzophenone derivatives, which may be obtained by reacting a) acrylic or methacrylic compounds, which contain at least one isocyanate-reactive group [compounds a)], with b) compounds, which contain at least two isocyanate groups [compounds b)] and c) acetophenone or benzophenone derivatives, which contain at least one isocyanate-reactive group [compounds c)]. Said invention also relates to copolymers, which contain said copolymerizable photoinitiators, as well as to the use of said copolymers in UV-crosslinkable substances, in particular hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesives.

Thermoplastic molding materials based on polyphenylene ethers

In the hydrogenation of polymers or copolymers synthesized from dienes, or containing diene hydrocarbons, which is as a rule carried out in an organic solvent using hydrogen in the presence of conventional complex hydrogenation catalysts based on metals of sub-group 8 of the periodic table of the elements and aluminum trialkyls it is important to have from 0.5 to 50 moles of water present in the hydrogenation zone per mole of the heavy metal component of the catalyst. The hydrogenation time can be substantially reduced by this measure.

Catalytic hydrogenation of diolefin polymers

Hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesive composition based on a rubbery block copolymer of a monovinyl-aromatic compound or monovinylidene-aromatic compound and butadiene. The composition contains a selectively hydrogenated radial block copolymer with terminal polymer blocks of the monovinyl- or mono-vinylidene-aromatic compound and, in the middle position, butadiene-based polymer blocks which had a 1,2-vinyl content of from 30 to 70 per cent by weight prior to hydrogenation. The compositions may be used, in particular, for the production of self-adhesive materials.

Hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesives based on block copolymers

Mineral lubricating oil compositions which contain a predominant proportion of a mineral lubricating oil together with a pour point depressant based on alkyl acrylate or alkyl methacrylate polymers and a viscosity index (VI) improver comprising a special selectively hydrogenated copolymer of styrene and a conjugated diene. The VI improver employed is a selectively hydrogenated, random butadiene-styrene copolymer containing from 35 to 45% by weight of styrene and possessing a particular structure and distribution of the monomers. The compositions exhibit high stability to shear and may therefore in particular be used for lubricating I.C. engines or gearboxes.

Lubricating oil compositions containing alkyl acrylate or methacrylate

Impact-resistant thermoplastic molding materials prepared from a rigid component and a soft component. The rigid component consists of polystyrene, the soft component consists of a mixture of a polyolefin with a copolymer of a vinylaromatic and a diene hydrocarbon which has been prepared by anionic solution polymerization and which may have been hydrogenated. The molding materials may be used for the production of molded parts for use in domestic appliances, automobiles and refrigerators.
